Have just been listening to Frankie Laine on Spotify - takes me back to the 50's at the Liverpool Empire where we used to go on a Saturday night to see Guy Mitchell, Johnny Ray and the great Frankie Laine. Interesting that years before the Beates they used to have St John's Ambulance people on duty to carry out the screaming young girls.

Also interesting is that in the 50's they only needed to provide medical attention at these events in case anyone fainted, now they need to have the police!! Shows how fans have become so much more aggressive.

I remember a TV interview conducted with Frankie Laine who said he was approached to sing the title track of a new western movie. He was encouraged to sing it in the same way as he sang this tune.

He said he wasn't told until after he'd recorded it, that it was for Mel Brookes' comedy western "Blazing Saddles."

My 95p helping of nostalgia has arrived. Not bad for a 45 year-old copy.

Because of my form of "OCD" I have to move them all around to get them in the correct genre and alphabetical order of artist's Christian name, or the name of the group or band.

Thanks Gemini, that's a very kind offer.

Presently I'm in the position where I have to take something out to get in a new record. I've about 50 not in use at the moment, some I was given and others I've bought.
I have to list them on an excel spreadshreet so I don't buy something I've already got!

To give you an idea what I've collected, I've cut and pasted both carousel lists.
A bit of "memory lane" I bet for many.

    If not "look away now!"

I'm open to suggestions, but I can't think off hand of anything I really need.

I'm always on the look out for "double A siders," records specifically re-issued for jukeboxes, as with most ordinary records, the usual "B" sides hardly ever get played.

I watched a very good film on Channel4 last night, "The Brave One" starring Jodie Foster, worth seeing if you can pull it back on your system. Amongst the background music, some only just audible was this. I've got copies of various artists singing this, from Ray Charles to Jane Monheit & Michael Bublé, but had never heard this excellent one before last night.
