"dim" you love the same stuff I do, well, mostly ..

    Been watching the X-Factor American show and this was one sung tonight I so love ...

    ... but reminded me of this which I love better ...

    My father died aged 93 five years ago. I didn't know him that well as my mother died aged 35 whenI was seven and we then lived in different countries for various reasons .. but he was still my father.

      No....that's me :heehee: :D, I love Abba, as well as the following (quite a mix :D);

      [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4QqMKe3rwY&ob=av2e

      Muse - Bliss - YouTube

      bon jovi - bed of roses - YouTube

      Steps - Here And Now - YouTube

      [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GmHgdLKwU8U

      I like the above artists in general and listen to most of their music, but there are hundreds of songs I like too that may have been sang by someone I wouldn't normally listen too, here's a few;

      Johnny Cash - The first time ever I saw your face - YouTube (love this song no matter who sings it)

      Adele - Someone Like You - YouTube

      Lonestar - Amazed - YouTube

      Nelly Furtado - Say It Right - YouTube

      and the list goes on :D..................

      Here's something that has been bugging me the last couple of days and it's really stupid!

      For some reason a song (a rubbish one :() popped into my head and I can't remember who brought it out. It's the U.S. version, and artists (a very loose term), that I'm trying to remember. It came out in 1960 and was very quickly covered by Rolph Harris. The song was 'Nick Teen And Al K Hall' - silly title for a silly song.

      I've tried Googling but can only find Rolph's version. I know the date because I remember discussing the two recordings with Emile Ford (who remembers him?) whilst having coffee with him in the Chequered Flag coffee bar in Cleveland Street whilst they were clearing the site opposite so they could build the Post Office Tower.

      Emile charted quite well in 1959 and 1960. This got to number 1 in '59

      This is what's floating my boat at the moment.....Steve Rothery - Easter - YouTube! Not the best version, but I think it captures the moment... BTW, for those that don't know, Steve Rothery is the guitarist for Marillion

      Oh freddy, we do like some of the same music but I wasn't keen on that .. prefer this ...

      ... which was written about Marillion's then girlfriend ...

      ... and this ...

      I was quite fond of Marillion as I spent almost every work day in Market Square, Aylesbury, having lived in the vicinity for 23 years .... :yess:

      Sorry you first heard Mike & the Mechanics when you did .. but what beautiful memories ... or sadness it must have brought to you. xx

      Hi Victoria :)

      Yes, those are great tunes, but a bit 'obvious'. Hopefully, you'll know what I mean :) All tunes from 'Misplaced Childhood' are good, indeed my favourite Marillion album. 'Easter' though is something of a 'classic', a tune that grows on you. Play it a few times before you dismiss it :) I always find that the tunes that take a while to grow on me, are the best.

      As for M&The Mechanics, I'm afraid it's that time of year that my thoughts go back 23 years.....
