Taking a YouTube video as an example, pick the video you want to share on the YouTube site, then click on 'Share' under the video which will then reveal the link that you need:



EITHER right click on the highlighted text in the box, OR hold CTRL and press 'C';

Then, come back to GC and click on the Embed Media icon that lives at the top of the post reply box (circled in red):



That will open the 'Embed Media' pop-up which looks like this:



NOTE - if this doesn't pop up, you will have to look at the settings on your web browser and tell it to allow pop ups from Gardeners Corner; if this is the case, come back to us if you need help with this.


You then need to click into the box under the 'Enter Media URL:' and EITHER right click and select paste OR hold CTRL and press 'V' - this will paste the link you copied from YouTube into the box.

Then, all you need to do is click on the Embed button at the bottom left of the pop up and you will be returned to the usual post reply box, which should now look like this:



You can put any text you want before or after the link, and when you press the Post Reply button you should see your post with the video embedded.

The principles are the same for other websites, although if they don't have a 'Share' button like YouTube, you might have to copy the website address from the address bar at the top of your browser.

 

I always just bring up the You Tube video in a separate tab, copy the address from the address bar (as fc has said) and then paste it into my post. It's very easy and has never failed to work. (Famous last words! )
