Mahler's WO DIE SCHOENEN TROMPETEN BLASEN - the most beautiful song ever written.

Freddy reminded me of a song I`d forgotton again from a while ago,

It was originally done by Roy Harper, and Kate Bush and Peter Gabriel had a good go at it too, but this is my favourite version.

I was a dedicated fan of the Walker Brothers in the 60s ... such beautiful voices and songs and it brings back memories of clubbing and dancing to easy music ... thanks for that reminder Boghopper ... :thmb:

Claire, I just got up a message that the video was not available .... :cnfs:

Some are there, but I wonder if YT have removed more videos that can be embedded ? I will check but it may not be an immediate response. Try reposting a couple and see.

For those of you who are old enough you may remember Tom Lehrer.

He was a professor of mathematics at Harvard and entertained the students with the satyrical songs he wrote and performed for them. He started doing them in the early fifties and by the late fifties his songs and records were very popular over here with songs such as 'Poisoning Pigeons In The Park', 'We Shall All Go Together When We go' and 'The Old Dope Pedlar'.

I heard him not so long ago being interviewed on Radio 4.

Over 40 yrs ago he did a song about 'Pollution' and this one, a little later, about the arms race.
