    Thanks Daisees,

Its not only normal it is desirable that Toni teaches her this lesson. My rational brain knows this but my human weaknesses just get in the way.

Toni knows what she is doing-it`s Poppy that has to learn.

    Thank you all again

I believe we have progress. Since the alleged assault/slapped leg incident Poppy has definitely been behaving herself around Toni-which is a good job because the poor lass has been poorly today, Toni that is.

Anyway look-it`s a bit fuzzy because I had to steady myself from fainting in shock

Didn`t last long but its proof-they are going to be friends.........eventually:thumb:

I had the same with my older cat tilly and her daughter lolah...and the new kitten against both of them and the dog against all 3 of them :)

The dog loves the kitten...a little too much at times! The cats are slowly getting used to the kitten. Lolah screams bloody murder at everything that goes anywhere near her, but as people have said, they sort it out themselves. The hardest thing is to relax and let them get on with it. Would like to see some more pics of your two

I have a young male that entered the fold about 4 weeks ago. Hissing from other cats off and on.
Now down to only one cat hissing at him. I just leave it alone. No one has physically attacked the new one. I agree, it is a matter of time. If you are gone for a long time perhaps separating would be good until your back home so you can listen for any issues.

Cats are hilarious, the politics in our house at the moment are extremely interesting. They actually have an audience every time they go in the same room as each other, it`s that entertaining. Poppy will not stop following Toni about and is making some headway. If she jumps up and startles Toni she gets a slap, if she pushes too far she gets a slap, but there has only been a very small amount of hissing. Toni mostly turns and looks directly at Poppy and pushes her head forward a little. It`s amazing, Poppy immediately behaves-I am trying to copy this approach with my kids.

After reading the above posts, and just letting Toni deal with her I have noticed that the household is much calmer. My Toni knows what she is doing.

Yes it is quite interesting to watch the antics and the posturing cats do with each other.
The new one brought quite a set of new communication from all of them.
But he seems to handle it all in stride, by just walking past them. I've named him Twitches because his tail is forever going, and sometimes his body twitches, like on his back. But I've noticed that, that is in response to some aggressive hissing from another cat toward him.
He is very amorous and even let me clip his nails last night. We have a cat door. Four of our cats can use it as they please, the other five prefer to stay outside. I have three cat houses in various protected locations on the property, elevated above snow level and full of wool blankets and thick sides, one of the houses is heated with a heating pad which is turned on when it is really cold.

Wow Red-9 cats, that`s technically a Pride you know, well the little sausages deserve all that care though don`t they. My hubby won`t let me get another kitten although I was considering it, but perhaps he is right. My Toni had us all to herself for the last 12 yrs and I think it would be unfair on her to get another little usurper in. Maybe later, I will think about it and would welcome any hints.

well, I think finally, my new little man has been accepted by the two older men. This morning in the garden room, three of my boys sleeping in the same room, first time in several days.

I like that cat hotel. Yes, guess it is call a Pride of cats.
