    Bilbo , considering that we are in November , you are doing a great job , at the end of February , i will follow you , I`m planning to get 5/6 coconut and grow them , just to see how much they will grow in one season , this year I want to try again with the sugar cane , bread tree and few more.

    Well the little shoot hasn't done much in the last week except get a bit fatter :biggrin:, its still firm and looking healthy so fingers crossed it'll continue to develop :)

    Not much to look at yet but here it is;

        It has had a slight burst of growth over the last couple of days; the white shoot in the photos above has now pushed out towards the edge of the pot.....:)

        Great Bilbo , how long did it take to that stage? today I`ve made my germinator , now I`m tempeted to start few of those ready for spring .

        I`m wondering , is it better use the green coconut or the normal coconut?
        look the one i buy.

        Hi Sal, it's only been just over 2 weeks so I'm pretty pleased with the progrees so far to be honest :dbgrtmb:

        I'm guessing the one in your photo must have been kept somewhere warm and reasonably humid to shoot like that..???

        You will not belive , last summer in July when we had all that rain , my asian shop usually keep them outdoor and they got wet and start to germinate , along with other frut and veg ...:doh: ....to say that he get everything fresh from asia , a complete different market , from the usual main food chain , those are golden asia coconut and not the usual caribbean , he even sell the fresh green coconut , will go there next week as in winter he get different stuff , will get some fresh pepper , giant alocasia and giant bamboo.

        Update....here's a photo taken this morning, progress is slow but definite, you can now clearly see the part of the 'shoot' that will become the main tap root and the part that will go up to produce the leaves....:)

          Bilbo , I wanted to try them as summer bed plants , but I think they really need time to grow , seen a fresh load of golden coconut last week , but wonder if the cold have damaged them or actually stratify them .
          should I start or should I wait?
