      Sauromatum venosum/Arisaema venosum,..'Voodoo Lily',

I keep this plant for its foliage,..as the bigger the bulb gets,.. the foliage also increases in size,..the bloom can be quite big as well,..sometimes 45cm high,..so far,..the drawback is the smell from the flower is not nice at all,..like wet leather,..also described as akin to something dead,..luckily the bloom comes and departs very quickly.

This plant appeared in the garden about 2 years ago,..probably among some seeds from abroad,..now there are about seven plants,..i really do like the foliage,..as below.

Still in bloom now and in the next video for August Blooms,..is Cape Fuchsia 'Pygelius Funfare Orange',..there is also a Lemon coloured version of this.

The Delphiniums are long gone and rather than see tall spires with no blooms while waiting for the seeds to mature i cut them back to ground level,..if the weather is good one could get a second bloom from Delphiniums,..i don't really like doing this,..so as the new growth reaches about 30 cm's high i use them as cuttings its a very successful way to increase stock and saves sowing and watching seeds sown,..some of the cuttings that have taken below.

Heucherella 'Sweet Tea' also provided a cutting.

      The parent plant.

Lacecap Hydrangea,..original colour is pink,..so a second plant was planted alongside and it was treated with Hydrangea colourant creating the mauve or darker colour.

Ooooh, the sort of garden I love! I haven't quite managed it, and not so sure I ever will now, but I still love looking at cottage gardens.

Some gorgeous plants here too - methinks I need to get me a Chile Lantern Tree!

Just this week i sent a rooted cutting of the Chile Lantern Tree to a friend in England,..i must take some more cuttings and will keep you in mind when they root.

Nearly all my plants are Perennial so i can have a problem with over stock due to self seeding and of course me taking cuttings which i can never resist.

... and I have over 300 days of sunshine per year.

I love that Chile Lantern Tree but it seems like it prefers a shady moist climate which is not possible here.

I too go for perennial evergreens that can take the dryness and heat. But it is also good for the old bones and the soul.

Some time back i decided to grow 'Aquilegia',..i was given some seeds and they produced Aquilegia of various colours,..the following year there were three times the amount of plants,..the colours i started with had changes to every colour of the rainbow and different sizes and blooms,..it goes to show if anyone wanted a garden full of colour in a short time 'Aquilegia' would be one of those plants to go for.

The video below is a tad long all of 14 Mins,..very relaxing so have a cup of tea in hand.

Lots of activity in the garden at night so i can never use Slug Pellets that are harmful to Pets and Wildlife,..granted there are now Slug Pellets that are not harmful to animals and humans,..i use a mix of Neem Oil and Liquid Soap all over the garden,..it eliminates anything that eats foliage on my plants but is not harmful to Bee's Butterflies Lacewings and Ladybirds,..Pets or Humans,..Neem Oil is a natural product made from the leaf of the tree and cold pressed.

The night life,..they have poor eyesight,..nocturnal,.. but do come out during the day when first awakened from hibernation,..there are two Adults and two youngsters,..the Adults appeared back in 2015.
