I reckon a quick spray of black paint along the West side of the LED lens would be enough, Shiney.:heehee: As I said I'll give the Council until the middle of November and if they haven't fitted a shield because they think fitting an LED might solve the problem without doing that or they're waiting for my reaction, as requested by them, I will ring them and see if they will fit a shield as originally promised.:coffee:

I'm a member of the Astroshed Forum and posted my problem with the Sodium Vapour Street Light and my Council's response. One of the other members who's up in Scotland replied back saying his Council dismissed his similar request out of hand. They told him that fitting a shield on a lamp would increase the wind loading on a lamp already affected by wind so they wouldn't view it as an option. Maybe I'm being cynical but the question occurs to me "What Council knows about every Street Lamp in their area??" Some Councils seem to view Rate Payers requests as a distraction and nuisance while others seem to want to co-operate in anyway they can......maybe I'm lucky??!":heehee:

Sorry, Sheal, for some reason I missed your post.:dunno::snork: The Council is only small, as is the town, so I'm pretty sure that only one Department is dealing with it. I've got a feeling that the talk the Council Guy and I had and the fact that I queried about the qualities of the LED lighting the Council was installing on the main roads put a thought into his mind. It's a bit strange to see just the one LED street light among the other street lights which are Sodium Vapour.:dunno::scratch::heehee: As I said, I do appreciate the effort but unfortunately it hasn't worked apart from lessening the glare slightly but now my garden is bathed in a white light and not an orange one. So I'll given the Council until the middle of November and then if no shield I will contact them to press them to keep their promise.:coffee::snork:
