Keep that Plum tree well watered even when it's raining Craig, it'll need a lot while it gets it's roots down.

    Keep the photo's coming too!

You can not stand rhubarb, but you will get Brownie points, off your street neighbours, when you bring a stack on home for them
Then they knock your door, and say we emptied my dads house to move and he had a wheel barrow in the backyard, Can you use it ? and other freeebie offers
    What goes around comes around

Which raised bed did you fill with the two ton ? :)

Hi Craig and welcome to the forum.

You've done an amazing job on your plot. I might have run screaming into the sunset if I had been offered that much work! :sofa:

I am also new here, having got my half-allotment (the waiting list is long here!) just over a month ago after a five year wait. I've been very lucky - my plot already has the raised beds and had been well looked after until last year when the previous owner decided they couldn't cope any more. I spent five hours down there today - having been held back by a chest infection for a few weeks. Started digging the beds over, clearing out couch grass and some tightly packed superficial weeds and the soil underneath is fantastic. After all the waiting it was absolute heaven!!!! :sunny::D:yess:

Hope you don't mind me reporting my progress on your thread!

The two tons didnt really go far to be honest, although I've managed to get a couple of inches of top soil down on each bed. I discovered a compost heap in the corner of the plot in a part just behind the greenhouse that i only semi cleared. there must be a ton of composted soil in there, so thats being spread on this week !

      A little update.

I've been really busy these last few weeks. The spuds have gone in, but its been so cold in Lancs that they are just starting to poke through. I've planted some raspberry canes, only to find that in a corner of the plot I already have some mixed in with the Rhubard which are growing like mad ! Its Rhubard Crumble for desert this evening !!

I've really taken advantage of the greenhouse to start my plants off. So far I've transplanted Turnips, Cabbage, Cauli, Broccoli and Brussels out into the beds and fleeced them up against the frosts we've been having. Checked them today and the heavy rain and sunshine are really bringing them on. The onion sets I planted a month ago are growing well to.

In the greenhouse I have tomatoes, Peppers and Chilli's from seed plus Aubergines. My Runner Beans, French Beans, Leeks, Swede, Courgettes, Marrows, Celeriac and Carrots are waiting to go outside. I also have Strawberry's and two Blueberry bushes.

So, its all go ! Will post some more pics shortly, but here's a couple to be getting on with......

      Craig

Great pics Craig, keep up the hard work. Interesting to see how all the plots on your allotments are so big and so clearly divided up with fencing. Much different round our way, much smaller plots, closer together and all much more open. Just a strip of grass between plots. Not that I'm getting to the top of the list for at least another couple of generations it would seem! :dunno:

Just a quick update folks. Hopefully I'll have some more pics soon. At the moment we've had frosts and torrential rain. It looks like a swamp. I'm rather unhappy at the moment.

Bad frost midweek that walloped my courgettes and spuds, even though they were fleeced up. Everything else seemed to be ok thankfully. We are due to have a better week weather-wise, it really has been bitter these last few days. I've taken a few more pics, hopefully they upload ok :snork:
