the problem is this is the first time i have grown cucumbers,i did not realise how they grow,i planted about 12 or so seeds and they all grew  so i have at first glance at least another 8/9 sisters to come and if i move the leaves :eek:

seriously they are delicious and the shop bought cucumber is so tasteless by comparison, but i will only sow 3/4 seeds next year

It's a very common mistake that almost all beginners make, too many seeds started of too many different types of plant and I'm still doing it. This year I've ended up with about twelve tomato plants (four different varieties), nine cucumbers (three different varieties) and more chillies and peppers than you could shake several sticks at, they include tabasco, rubens, jalapeno, fresno, unicorn, hot caribean and big banana. With some vegetables such as cucumbers, it can be more cost effective to buy 2 or 3 as young plants, rather than a whole packet of seed and the advice most often given by experienced gardeners is to concentrate on growing a small variety of things and grow them well. I expect I'll do exactly the same again next year.:)
