OMG. If this woman was my neighbor I'd have already told her look its MY garden and I'll take care of it how and when I want to. If you aren't careful it sounds like she is going to push you around quite a bit. Get a taller fence!!!

My mum's got one now......."that tree's a bit tall itsn't it??", "that shrubs a bit bushy isn't it", even - "you put a lot of bird food out, are you sure it's not too much?"

Well the tree is healthy, not blocking his light and not even near his garden!!!

The shrub comment just lost me, because they are in the middle of mum's garden and only restricing her walk up the garden which she doesn't mind...

And the bird food, well it all gets eaten there's very little waste!!!

Some people just need more to do.......oh and my mum's neighbour loves watching the birds in his garden, some of which I know are only there because of the species of trees and shrubs my mum's got !!!!!!!

I lived in a flat for over 10 years and had agoraphobia so never went out or met any neighbours.

When I started to get better and moved to my lovely dream bungalow, I just wanted it ll to be perfect, so sort of let her talk me into things, but now im doing things my way and just saying hello and chit chat.
She is just a lonely lady that because im much younger than her and only just moved here, thinks she is boss of the place :D

I don't want to create conflict but then again I don't want to be bullied into things with her smiling but criticising ways:what:

mostly I just laugh now , she tells me im not allowed to put up hanging baskets as the council do not allow it.

there is everyone with hanging baskets everywhere (including her). What she means is, she don't want me to drill and make noise putting them up :heehee:

I'm going to buy some trellis with the block panel under it so it will make the fence higher.

Hahaha sounds like the one I have, Oooo don't feed the birds because we had a rat problem here once ( not true) That rose needs chopping down, oh don't chop that blackberry down, we get some lovely berries off of that:rolleyespink:

You going to cut that horrible Christmas tree down????

No actually im going to buy some lovely outside lights and light it up :loll:

She is OK though and harmless as long as you don't let her get her way, that's the mistake I made when I first moved in. Now I just smile but ignore her unhelpful advice, she doesn't talk to me that much anymore.

I had a Blackberry trained against the fence, the stem was in a cardboard tube to stop it spreading out sideways, so only the flowering top was gettin the light.

Came here a few weeks ago to find the neighbour had cut the top off it:DOH:
      Just as it was flowering.

Aaawwww good for you Kizzie! I bet that has been quite a challenge! It sounds like you're doing good now though. Your garden is your own little paradise that you can do what you want. It gives you a brilliant sense of freedom and satisfaction as well. This group is also a great way to make friends and get new ideas and all the help you need. Hope you enjoy it and take advantage of all it has to offer!
