Nice pics, everyone. Woo, I think 'Double Delight' has a lovely perfume??? You'll have to post a photo in smell-o-vision when it opens! Mind you, I still think it's hard to beat 'Margaret Merrill' for scent. I did say no more roses - too many pests and diseases - but I have made an exception for her.

What I love about roses is that because new varieties are constantly being produced, you can see fashions in roses just as you can in clothes and decor. 'Orangeade' is that same bright orange that you also see in sixties interiors and has a simple, almost single, flower shape. David Austin's roses started to become popular as people started to ditch modernity in favour of romantic, retro gardening and wanted blousey Victorian-looking blooms again.

There is nothing nicer than looking through a rose catalogue and discovering 'old friends'!

Hi Marley lovely little Rose .:thmb::)

    Margaret Merrill
Hi Claralou yes it is a delightful creamy and white Rose with a lovely scent, 28 petals, bred by Harkness in 1978,its parents are Ruldolph Timm x Dedication x Pascali, its just that since I retired from working with Roses, when I spent many years surrounded by beautiful and enchanting White and Cream coloured varieties in many Rose Gardens,I now go for vibrant colours and tricolours just something different, but as you know I love all Roses:thmb::)

Thank you, Woo. Scented roses are my weakness ... I am already wondering whether I could possibly break my no-more-roses rule and somehow squeeze in an 'Evelyn' ...

I remember a dear favourite Aunt of mine had a huge 'Double Delight' in her cottage garden. She always said, to her it was so called because it had the double delight of being a beautiful bi colour.... and also the absolutely wonderful fragrance. I would love one !

Here is my 'Rhapsody in Blue' taken today, and also a yellow/gold climber who's name escapes me ( blush )

What about this one Woo? Isn't that the most extraordinary colour? It's another of David Austin's - 'Summer Song'. Apparently it smells gorgeous too.

    I need a bigger garden ....
