Wow! That really does look neat and tidy now. Nice work Kevin.

I've not had any problems with Evergreen products in the past, so it should be fine. Be careful to spread it evenly and stick to the suggested dosage.

    Hello @Sheal

Thanks for that, it means a lot :)

I am reluctant to do too much on the Lawns as it will undoubtedly get trampled when the Landscapers come.

The Back Lawn is not level either and has small bare pits around the Lawn so they will also need to be addressed.

I will wait though until after the Landscapers have been, in the meantime I will just keep it cut.

    Thanks

    Kevin

      Hello all

      I hope you are well.

I have just removed some Purple Loosestrife from behind where the Water Feature is which has left a gap as can be seen here:

      20220312_141638.jpg

The Purple Loosestrife required too much maintenance and getting access to the area is not easy.

I am now looking for a colourful upright Shrub that will fit in the area that will require minimal maintenance.

The Shrub on the right is a Weigela 'Florida Variegata' and to the left is a Phormium Tenax Purpureum, I think.

      Any suggestions?

      Thanks in advance

      Kevin

I think you're right to hold back on work on the lawns and probably best to leave it until the landscapers have been. If they do make a mess there's no point having to put it right a second time.

That's quite a small gap between the water feature and the fence. How about this below, it is one of the smaller Euonymous.

Euonymus fortunei 'Emerald 'n' Gold' (v)|spindle 'Emerald 'n' Gold'/RHS Gardening

This Weigela above should have a weeping habit. Yours looks rather upright and I suspect is wrongly named. Did it bloom and have that weeping habit last year Kevin?

      Hello @Sheal

      Thanks for the reply.

I think the gap between the Water Feature and the Fence is deceiving in the Photo, I just went out and measured it, it is approximately 18".

Thanks for the suggestion of the Euonymus Fortunei Emerald-n-Gold-(v).

Unfortunately, according to the Description it has a Spreading Habit and is also a Climber which would cause issues in that spot as there will be a Clematis on the Fence behind it.

I did a Search yesterday and came up with this:

Berberis thunbergii f. 'atropurpurea Helmond Pillar' - barberry

Do you think this would be suitable?

Also, the Weigela was one of the Shrubs I tidied up as it had a lot of very spindly branches which I removed, even so, it was not really of a Weeping Habit last Year, much the same as it is now.

      Thanks

      Kevin

          Hi Kevin,

The Berberis is a lovely plant but did you notice it grows to 1.5 metres? If you have a Clematis on the fence behind it, you won't be able to see it.

Were you looking particularly for something red leaved and possibly evergreen?

          Hello @Sheal

Yes, at 1.5m (the same height as the Purple Loosestrife) it would reach the top of the Fence Panel and at a Spread of 0.6m it would only block a small section of the Clematis, once the Clematis gets going.

I am not looking for a Red Plant in particular, however, I think a Red Plant would fit in well in that area, also, Evergreen would be useful since access is not easy.

          Thanks

          Kevin

          Hi Kevin,

That particular Berberis is quite an upright plant and as you say wouldn't hide much of the Clematis. I think it will look good there too. :)

          Hello @Sheal

          Thanks, that is decided then

I just need to wait until April when they will be available.

In the meantime, I have got someone coming on Friday to remove the two Spiraea which have seen better days.

I have ordered a couple of Spiraea Japonica Shirobana to replace them which should be delivered next week, hopefully.

          Thanks

          Kevin

I'll look forward to seeing pictures of the new Spiraea's when they are in position.

              Hello all

              I hope you are well.

As above, I have a couple of Spiraea Japonica Shirobana being delivered, hopefully next week.

Am I right in thinking that if the Shrubs Mature Spread is 1.5m that if I want them to overlap, very slightly, that I would need to plant them roughly 1.2m apart?

If anyone could confirm my thinking it would be appreciated as my Brain Cell hurts :)

              Thanks in advance

              Hello all

              I hope you are well.

I contacted the Landscapers regarding my Patio, Paving and Setts and they are looking at late April for my Job, so at least I now have a ballpark Date, they will contact me nearer the time with a more definite Date.

In all honesty, late April actually works better for me, since, with having to replace my Combi Boiler and Radiators recently I am cutting it fine, financially, at the moment so another Month and a half will give me some leeway.

I am looking forward to getting things sorted so I can move onto one of the other several thousand, a bit of an exaggeration, but not much, Jobs on my list.

              Thanks

              Kevin
