Work on the path and patio has begun. Getting rid of the top path was easy as the people before did it cheaply. The old concrete path underneath is going to be harder to get out.

Yeh it is so where the slabs are laid on sand that finishes in line with the grass and the blue bit.

From there on wards where you can see the grey line all the way up the garden is one of those old style paths where the stones are mixed in with concrete

The slabs were literally just placed over the top with dollops of cement which was more sand than anything else. It just crumbles away. The path underneath wasn't as wide as the slabs so they have just placed bits of broken brick at the sides.

          Full bodge job

Glad I'm getting it removed now as there were loads of slug eggs underneath the slabs so hopefully i will be eliminating a load of slugs from the garden so there will be less next year

I know my idea sounds a bit of a bodge but to save you some work could you not leave it down as a base then put a good bed of sand on top or will that raise it up too much for you?

Ah im not doing the work myself i got some lads in doing it :-)

A second cousin has a landscaping business so i thought rather than do it myself i will get his expertise in.

He says that path has to come up cause nothing will lay properly on top of it. Its also not straight lol

It goes off at odd angles

Yeh i did contemplate doing the work myself but as i couldn't even lift one of the old slabs that went out the window lol

Come back home after dog sitting for the parents and its at the total mess stage

And these are the new slabs. They are much thicker than i thought they would be but spose thats a good thing

There are also no lads on site so dont know whats happening

Thanx lolimac just noticed tho one of my honeysuckles has been taken out by accident and the dwarf buddleias are looking worse for wear. Hoping they will pull through there is also a large pile of mud on top of some primroses. *sigh*

I feel bad for my plants

Quite annoying about the honeysuckle it was quite obviously a plant

Awww that's a shame Dips, hope the plants can be saved:fingers crossed:...

I've got builders due to start tomorrow and they'll be working dangerously close to my new Buxus so I've put up a make shift fence to keep them off:paladin:
