If only there were more people in this world like you and Oscar......
My Mum loves when I go to visit with Bramble - my Cocker Spaniel - she has always had dogs since she was a little girl, but when her last dog died, she took the decision not to have another, as she wasn't able to do the walks anymore... broke her heart....

We're going again on Wednesday. Oscar has a bnew body harness. That other one dragged on his neck so.

He's not very impressed with it, tho but! Keeps walking around with his belly nearly scraping the floor and looks really silly!!

Very important that he feels top of the tree for both smartness and comfort and then he can forget the harness is there. Best of luck for Wednesday!

Are you going to get him the coat? You can also get PAT collars and leads. I still have Duke's collar and leads and the collar has his little PAT badge.
You get quite a good reaction when you go in schools, perhaps to explain about the charity. As a teacher it was easy for me . I did a few assemblies with Duke and they were always very popular.
A lot of old people have had to give up their pets when they go into homes or sometimes it brings memories back. I remember a Scottish lady who told me all about how she had showed black labs over 50 years before. I went out to see another ward and bumped into her 10 minutes later. She greeted me as though she had never seen me before and then told me the same story. Funny how memory can behave when you get old.
In another ward this old guy asked me to get Duke to jump up in the line of vision of his wife. They had had black labs when they were younger. I found out that she had had two strokes and he was desperate for a sign of recognition from his beloved wife. Sadly it never came....it just goes to show how important these little things can be to people.
You are lucky to have a cat that is suitable and I bet Oscar revels in it. I know that Duke used to love visiting and used to go wandering off round the wards waving his tail in the air and he used to make people laugh.

No, I'm not in favour of dressing cats in clothes! A harness is about as far as I would go.

Your stories about people you have visited are sweet. Bet you miss your Duke!

Visit number two was quite good. Unfortunately, I was first shown into the dining room were there was a lady selling jewellery and the chatter and laughter was quite deafening! Oscar's not used to a lot of such noise so I had to ask to be relocated to another room. We went to one lounge where a lady had him on her lap for about 5 minutes or so. I had taken my camera and extra batteries but it wouldn't work. When I looked, I'd left the flash card at home!! Grrrr!

So we went to a second lounge and there found the dear lady who'd been so moved by his presence last time. This time she took him on her lap and he stayed there for at least 15 minutes! He even resettled himself a few times and finally ended up with his front end nestled in the crook of her arm and looked for all the world as he was going to go to sleep! She was delighted!

What an absolute Star MMD! I agree with you about dressing cats though. They are too easily unbalanced in their body heat and can become very distressed apart from all othr considerations. Congrats on a succesful second visit in spite of the problems.
