Yup, its horses for courses really as the saying goes. If you like to tinker, then fair enough..go for it. I'm an amateur 'tog and although I would love to be a fully fledged pro one day, for the moment I'm happy enough taking the shots I want to..I dont even try to sell my work as yet. I do have a domain and website there but for nearly three years there has only been three photo's and a couple of articles on it.

I probably could sell my work, but I've never got round to it as a lot of work would need to be done to do it, I'd much rather be out taking more photo's or in the garden pottering about. I must be daft or something...or am i?

    Steve...:)

Hi Steve,Thanks for that.I enjoy taking photo's even with my camera and as yet have tinkered around with trying to make them better as I prefere to see them as taken.Saying that though when we went up to the Lakes last September I had only had my new camera a few weeks so was still in the learning stage so to speak. When we got them back home I was dissapointed to find that a lot of the scenery was sloping because in my eagerness to take the photos I hadn't looked at the horizon properly.A kind member on here told me the way to get rid of the sloping horizons using Paintshop but at the moment havn't had the time to sit and go through them all to put them right:rolleyes:

Thankyou for sharing them with us:thumb:

I agree with O2 - too many postcards these days are mediocre and don't do a spot justice. Yours would sell at the top end of the range instantly as yours do MORE than justice to a beautiful landscape - your combination of composition and minimal editing make the perfect perfecter!!!!

and when you've finished photographing Cumbria - come down here and do DARTMOOR!

I really liked your photos on Nutty's sunrise/sunset thread - meant to say that when I visited Buttermere I also spent a happy night in Workington celebrating a friend's 40th in the social club there. They looked like photos from the Caribbean - I couldn't believe those astounding sunscapes were England!

There are certain times of the day and year where the light makes 10x the difference between a good photo and an outstanding one, all of yours Steve's are outstanding.:thumb: If you have any more......

Absolutly amazing photos, I love the lakes in particular the langdale area, Youve brought back a few memorys of childhood holidays. I really must go back.

Another cannon man lol great cameras, i use an Izsus rather than a SLR due to compactness me being a bit of a snap happy sort of person.

    steve, love them all!

personally i may have removed the flare in the crummock in autumn one, but thats my taste.

i would love to do landscapes but i seem not to have the patience except with people.

Fantastic photos Steve :thumb: :thumb: :). I'm another lover of the Lakes and know all those places very well - but have never seen that old petrol pump. I'll be back up there in just over a week and then again in September.

I agree with the others, you should try and get them made into postcards or just sell them yourself. The man that sells the photos on Keswick market seems to do a pretty good trade.

In the days of film I used to love my old AV1 but don't like carrying all the weight anymore, so just use an Ixus 400. It does reasonable shots and I get the occasional lucky one :)

Your photos are much better than the ones I put on my Lake District thread last year :o :)

    Keep them coming.

You've got a great eye for light and texture Steve. Autumnal Bassenthwaite is my favourite, I think. Almost doesn't look real - like you tinted a black and white photograph!
