Brilliant, the one of the petrol pump made me smile.

A few years back i was buying a car via private sale from someone right out in the sticks, anyway the instructions I was emailed contained the instructions left turn by the petrol pump.

Couldnt find a petrol pump anywere and ended up driving around for several hours!

The petrol pump was in fact an old one like the above sitting incongrusly by an ancient barn complex in the middle of nowere and with grass growing up the middle of the road!!!!!

I can only add my Oh's and Ah's to everyone elses.

Brilliant photos, Steve, and I love them all, some more than others but I think the Castlerigg Dawn is my favourite, something mystical about it.

If you think that one is Mistical, what do you make of this one of Castlerigg? This is as it was, I've not doctored it in any way...and its a known phenomenon.

Castlerigg draws in quite a lot of "different" people, some in white robes others just to dance around the stones etc etc.

I'll reveal the phenomenon later, unless someone gets it first in which case I'll deny or confirm.

Being a lover of old neolithic stone circles, I have to say that your Castlerigg pics are something quite special.

No jesting Steve - you really should go into commercial production with your landscape photography - and I agree with Progard - pictures like that petrol pump are of great interest and I would guess would make fashionable prints for books of old England etc.

    Go Pro!

Another mystical view of Castlerigg, but I like the first one best as the stones are so real but the mountains in the background appear to belong to another dimension.

Re the "light arch" in the second one - could it be something along the lines of what we were talking about in anothere thread recently? Something atmospheric? Perhaps it is not really there as it is a Fata Morgana?

That fire rainbow looks stunning, never seen or heard of it before.

The light arch in the photo above is a not often seen thing called a "Fogbow", the rest of that particular shot does not look so good as it should as Castlerigg was at that time surrounded in mist.

Fogbows normally occur at much higher altitudes and I guess are similar to the fire rainbow in that the sun has to hit the mist/fog at the correct angle, I have thought of printing a couple of hundred of this and opening a stall up there to sell them to the druids/mystical people etc. "The power of Castlerigg" or something it could be called. :D

Mother nature is wonderfull at these things, and she has helped me many a time to get a special photo whilst I am out with the camera.

Sorry, the last three pics I uploaded seemed to go AWOL, I've re-uploaded them and will post them again here.

Here's a few more shots. I've changed how I put the titles on these, what do you think of this change?

I love the dramatic weather you get up there in the lakes Steve. That cloud and mist make for very atmospheric (literally) pictures.

If you are ever passing St James's Church in Buttermere.... any chance of a shot???? ;)

Great photos - 'bout time you started doing something with them and the tourist board really.

    Kath :)
