    looked like my little veg patch at the beginning,dug the weeds up,turned the soil,removed the rocks and other unwanted rubble.
    pulled a few slabs up and used them with the rubble to build a dry stone wall at 1 end which i can jump on,use wire mesh to fence the patch off and then i started planting.

    keep at it girl,its hard work but it will all be worth it...i now have a full patch of carrots,spuds,tomatoes,cabbage,brussells,beans and lettuce.

    my 1st dinner was a nice fresh lettuce salad which was the best i tasted in years and my lady friend enjoyed it and she had the rest over the next 2 days for her lunch.

    garden centres will have plants been grown ready to plant.

    good luck:thumb::gnthb:

    Hi Deb I have to warn you once you have tasted your own grown veg there will be no going back to the rubbish that gets sold in the super-markets I can tell you.:wink:

    Take things nice n easy and plan things out carefully and in no time at all your little veg bed will grow and maybe even take over more of your garden than you originally intended.

    Some things are a little late to sow now but one thing that you can still sow and maybe enjoy as much as us is Dwarf French Beans they were one of the very first things we grew (after lettuce and raddish of course) this time last year which was our first year of growing any kind of veg.

    If you cruise Free-cycle remember to look out for surplus young vegetable plants as we do have them on our local site quite often so you just may get lucky on your local site too if not just put a wanted ad on.Hel.xxx.

    "surplus young vegetable plants"

    Although perhaps give any Brassica plants a miss - avoiding Club Root (which is transmitted in soil) is definitely worth .. .errrmmm ... "avoiding"
