It's been hard work for you getting there but you've achieved a lot and should be proud of yourself. :dbgrtmb: As for hanging a houseful of doors, nahhh, it's just not going to give you the same buzz Neil.

Well your right sheal... the house full of doors was not giving me the same buzz...
Talk about a pain in the a*se!
We have 6 internal doors, 2 of which are smaller than the rest.
2 of which are on our living room carpet, which is very thick and plush.
One out of all 6 doors went in nice, which was the bathroom one (thankfully!)
The other small doorframe is warped 1cm narrower in the middle than the top, and is mounted to a block wall, so i can't just brute force it back and screw it in! GRR!
The others are just wonky doorframes and the super thick carpet causing problems, but every door is "hung" just mostly sticking and dragging on things until i can borrow a plane (rather than the jigsaw i was using!)
So that should be done this weekend!!!

          Then back to the garden.
I definitely need legs on the benches, now the water has soaked into the end-grain of the wood, it doesn't hold as well, minor details, i was planning on legs anyway eventually!

Hmm so that's next on the list!

Then the fire pit is going in- and the second hammock!

After that is the MAJOR tidy!

Then Cutting up the final pavers to make our patio complete.

Depending on the weather i'm going to throw the concrete step in the middle of all that!

And Finally the spare pavers will be used to make a little path to the greenhouse (i don't like walking on gravel at the best of times)

Then it's just weed control until next year i think, oh and buying a greenhouse when they come on sale!
I keep having to do myself a list on what to do, so i don't get distracted with things like building a garden BBQ bar etc!

Now, if any of you have read this far...
What do i need to plant before winter?
What do i need to plant during winter?

I bet the air was blue in your place working with those doors! Why is it that nothing diy is ever straight forward! :doh:My bungalow is 65 years old and although the walls are straight the door frames are original and like yours don't like spirit levels. We've gutted our place and everything except those frames and the doors were replaced, they were stripped. All our woodwork is colour varnished now, nine internal doors included and with the exception of the loft hatch. Low maintenance is the way to go! :)

I think the legs on the benches was pretty much on the cards as you say and the weather has confirmed it for you. You obviously need to get the concrete work done before the weather changes. Where has this year gone, autumn is already showing itself!

Try not to buy a greenhouse from the likes of B&Q, I've heard bad reports in the past about their strength and also part failures.

What do you need to plant before winter?

Autumn is planting time for spring bulbs. Now is the time to order bare root trees and shrubs for late autumn/winter planting too.

What do I need to plant during winter?

Just about anything that will be dormant, trees, shrubs and roses of course. It's also the time to move any that are currently in the wrong situation.

It's also a good time to plant (build) your new greenhouse.......ready for spring growing.

            Can't anything go easy!?!?!?
I've hit the foundation of the old wall that used to be here, trying to set in the firepit inner!
            Just need another 6inch!

No plant photos or anything yet, due to the weather here being
Scorching until about 5pm, then tropical thunderstorms.
everything is looking a bit ravaged by the rain!

But, i started on the cladding, i seem to have under-estimated the amount of pallets i needed...
Back to collecting, at least the garage is a bit more empty!

An overview of the garden, with rubbish everywhere and our tree that looks like one of those trolls you had as a child!
                  IMAG0685.jpg

Then the woodwork, it took a while to work out all the angles and dimensions, and mounting points.
I've attached legs to the areas that needed legs, then the cladding!

                  IMAG0713.jpg

Now you see why i'm not bothered about the pavers being butted up against the wall.
For the people who are interested, the cladding is held on via one long piece of wood, and braced to the legs.
The end is braced to the legs which i attached slightly under the end of the decking ready for them
Then they are angled themselves to suit the wall, which meant the first piece of cladding is a triangle with a flat end! hard work!

Anyway, overall, it's looking as good as i'd imagined, i'm happy i ignored lots of people telling me to keep the bases open.
They look so much more fitted, rather than a few floating planks of decking.

                  IMAG0714.jpg

I MAY have enough wood to get to the pillar, depending on how complicated the corner ends up being and how many attempts i need to take on it, theres three angles inter-twining together with extra corner braces in the way, so it might take a bit of trial and error.
I'm very happy with the result though!

It looks so much better with cladding Neil, it makes the bench look complete. :dbgrtmb: Are you going to treat the wood when you've finished?

Yeah but I don't know what with... It was going to be painted but I like the rustic look of the different coloured woods. Hmm hard choice.
They need to come off again anyway for an extra brace on the back so I could do it then
