It looks neat and tidy Neil. :dbgrtmb:

I didn't realise how tall your greenhouse is, I've not seen one like that before. :)

It was probably a nice greenhouse until I broke the door, and the window, and the hinge, and the shelf whoops!
I came to it yesterday to see the door bent in two and wide open... Poor chillies, they must have gotten a chill!
It bent back again though, I'm looking for a replacement for it, but I haven't seen any on sale yet

Well I've been told to get my hedge under control from the next door neighbour... I wouldn't really mind but it's less than quarter of the size it was when we moved in, and I'm refusing to cut too much off in one cut as I don't want them to either die off or sprout out like a monster!
Bah humbug. I still have the scar from a year ago pruning that hedge, he should be happy. Bah humbug!!

Is the hedge shutting out his sunlight or is he complaining for the sake of it? I didn't think it was that bad.

I think he's just trying to make a point for future. But it'd be nice if he would have asked in a nice way, like last time we spoke we'd just moved in, he could have asked how I'm settling in etc. But he made the trip specifically to say that!
I'll go out and take a photo...

I'll upload it when I get to work, it's not wanting to work this morning

Bearing in mind the boundary is level with the hedge at the bottom of the picture I'm only over by next to nothing. Grr
It's under control, it's not like he described, he said he couldn't get to his compost bin... Well unless that bin is in my garden I'm guessing that's an overstatement

Well it's not shutting out the sunlight, perhaps he's trying to tell you something else. May be he was hoping you were going to dig it out and put a fence there instead. The hedge could do with a tidy up but I wouldn't say it's out of hand.

I wonder if it'll grow back...
He can't say it's not under control now!

Did you not read the above line Neil? :heehee: If it was a horror film it would be a blood bath, did you get a little carried away with the pruning?

Privet is hard to kill. Although it won't need pruning again before next spring it will fight back and look just the same as before you gave it a haircut. :)

Well, it was what i wanted to do with it initially, but as it was about 12foot tall and longer in areas when i first started pruning it, i didn't want to do it all in one.
There seems to be a theme going here, i didn't want to cut the tree back too far neither....
          hmm!
          Whoops!
I've cut it down so low, as they say on t'internet that you should cut them down a good foot below their finished height, so when you come to prune you don't have to cut around the big brances, but can simply just buzz over the top to the desired level.
I want it the same height as our wall, so i'm somewhere near, some of the trunks are thicker than my arm!
So next spring, once it's had chance to grow, i'm going to chop some of them to just above ground level... and hope!

I've forgotten what i was going to post now...

          Oh that was it!
I've had another (yes another! tidy)
i managed to get the bottom level "clear" from all the junk (see the pile in the above picture) with a couple of full car loads to the tip!
Arranged all my burn wood into bags and in to the dry shed, lifted the roof of the shed while i was there (it's been sagging and pooling in the middle of the roof for a good year now!)
Moved the bbq back into the shed, that won't be needed this year i don't think.
I had a rake of the top layer, to get rid of the cuttings and weeds, moved the wood to a more sensible location, cleared the next to bottom layer, sweeped and washed it down with the hose.
filled the tulip border with used compost from chillies (from last year!!!) and took the rotting chillies to the tip.
pulled up all the X weedproof membrane from the base of the purple tree, cleared that border a bit.
          And tidied the garage! OOH!
Oh and fed the chillies... i keep forgetting that!

          List for the week is:
Tie the roses to the trellis.
Bag up the scrap wood from the seat build for burning/making wood (arrange it)
pile up the spare stones into a mini wall so i can see what's available for use.
          And the big one,
Hopefully get some help to clear out the composty pile from behind the garage, it's holding water and transferring it through the garage wall and making everything in there wet!
          GRR
So ... Keeping myself busy this week!

If the hedge was 12ft originally, then you did get carried away! I hope you neighbour's happy now! :)

You have been a busy bee! I bet it all looks a whole lot better for a tidy up.

            Purple tree?

I'd distribute the compost pile around the garden if it's rotted down, if not I'd bury it, saves lugging it to the tip. :)

It's got glass in it. And it's been the runoff for the asbestos roof which is little UN settling while it's soggy I'd rather get rid than risk any fibres being released or whatever

I forgot i've not exactly updated this in a while.
There's not much to update to be honest, i've done a bit, but not too much really, oh and sorry for the camera work... shocking!

              IMAG0886.jpg

The bottom is now clean...er than it was!
              IMAG0900.jpg

Drainage is a slight problem here as you can tell!

From bottom to top... going up!
The step is, messy, but better than it was!
It was originally the width of just the concrete.

              IMAG0887.jpg

First layer finally clean, it's not been this clean since we moved in over a year ago!

              IMAG0888.jpg

And the other side, this is the gap where the compost pile needs to be dug out of... claustrophobic in there!
              IMAG0899.jpg

The artificial grass has settled in nicely, the roses are getting messy, but they need to settle in before i trim again.

              IMAG0898.jpg

              IMAG0890.jpg

Messy roses and lavendar which i think may just die... Hmmph!
              IMAG0889.jpg

              The Mess!

              IMAG0895.jpg

Organised mess though, wood on right rocks on left.

              Condensation in the greenhouse!

              IMAG0896.jpg

Top level, my odd viewing platform.

              IMAG0891.jpg

              The planter is growing up!

              IMAG0892.jpg

The green stuff is even flowering! (see lhs!)

The important layer, tidier, but not perfect.

                IMAG0893.jpg
All the brown conifer leaf everywhere! Urgh, i can't wait until that's cut down!

                IMAG0894.jpg
Stood on top of the top wall for an overview.
