    You could see something that looked like cobwebs in top right hand corner of original picture. But it's very clean and shiney compared with some of the strange things!
    I've got one- but a bit different- I want to know if anyone knows how to use this gadget:

    I have had it for many years and I think it's for darning, but can't work out how to use it. It says 'speedweve' on it and when you push the bar at the top all the hooks turn to face the other way. Has anyone ever seen or used one of these?

    Have you actually got one? It looks as though the 'mushroom' came with it, I never had that. It belonged to my mother in law and was in her sewing box when she died about 30years ago!
    Another of life's mysteries solved...

    I will have a try without the mushroom bit, I think I still have an ordinary darning mushroom. There's not a lot of call for darning these days, is there? I used to darn socks but with the advent of nylon mixes It isn't worth it.

    Sadly we're the throw-away society! I used to quite like darning.
