    Does this help?
    Flowers are about 15mm across.
The plant exhibits thigmonasty ('Think monastery') and is sometimes known as ... Powderpuff.
Anyone want to come up with the proper name?

Well done Pete again [IMG] [IMG]
I had it as M Strigillosa but as far as I can tell there is next to no difference.
Liz you were close to it with powderpuff as M. Strigillosa is sometimes called this.
Incredible little flowers when you look at them closely.
It belongs to our son and lives in our sun porch. It bloomed for the first time this week.

For anyone who doesn't know it's a touch sensitive plant and the leaves curl when touched.

THIS IS THE HONEST TrUTH about this sensitive plant (mimosa pudica) they are weeds in Sri- lanka. I sometimes had a job to get rid of them.

I believe you Fancy, its regarded as an invasive weed in most hot countries, I had not heard of strigillosa Dave, but that and pudica do look very similar.
When I grew some one year, (pudica that is), the plant was much bushier and shorter than yours. Wether thats down to the growing conditions or maybe there is a slight difference, who knows.

I quite like Pal's answer but I would think the ball would hit that little ridge and send the ball skew-whiff, so I'll say the top of a plastic container of sorts.
