    I believe this may be one of those items that I would not even know its purpose after seeing a picture of the whole thing:scratch:
    So. I have some wild guesses.
    A pocket magnifier?
    A cigar cutter?

    Other guesses are just to silly

    OK.. Lets review the clues.
    1...Its made of four discs of wood (as far as we can see)
    2...If you look at the scour marks of the two centre discs it suggests they are joined together (pivoted in one place)
    3... The whole thing is pocket size. about two inches
    4.. Its Victorian (Who like their gadgets)
    5...Are those four discs flat or is there something hiding that we cant see? (I think yes)
    6...Im thinking the real purpose of this object is hidden in the two centre discs.
    7.. Finally....I dont have a clue:scratch:

    are they held together with string on something on the top that we cant see ? HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP

    [​IMG] Whoa.... :thmb: Robert I have to give it to you..!!! It is a Victorian Triple Jewelers Loupe.... Here it is fully open...:D The magnification doesn't look much when it is set down like this, but look at jewelery & it is still superb today..!!:thmb:
