As far as I am aware, their chainsaws are still 2 strokes. Their mowers are 4 strokes.

Of the Swedish mower brands, the one with the best reputation is not, to my knowledge at least, available outside of this Country.

The one below is what I've ordered I think @Sandy Ground. I binned the catalogue I brought home where the page was marked.:biggrin: It's a push mower for two reasons. The first being - my front garden is rough ground. The second is because I need complete control and maneuverability owing to health issues. I can't risk using a mower that is self propelled at any speed.

That looks a bit of a bargain if truth be told - I would have expected it to cost more than that.

@Sandy Ground - what brand are you keeping to yourselves then?

Some nice looking machines on there - I wonder why they haven't gone international?

I suspect because they are expensive even here. Internationally, they would be even worse.

The self propelled ones are usually front wheel drive as well. that tends to create problems with collector models.

Thanks Sandy. :) I'll definitely give you all feedback, if it makes it out of the box, the weather's looking dreadful here in Britain over the next couple of weeks.

I've done well then FC - I paid £45 less than that price. :)

At a guess the Klippo's look like lightweight machines Sandy. Unusual handle set up at the body end too.

The small ones (Triumph) weigh in at 24,5kg.

Some have a choice of engine, Honda or B&S

I picked up the Husqie today so all I need now is some fuel and dry weather. :)

@Sheal you probably need the correct grade of engine oil also. Normally, they are shipped dry.

I think it’s due to Klippo doing mulching mowers rather than collectors. Husky own them and it seems they produce the mulchers for them but it’s a stiff market over here and while you can purchase them here other makes tend to be ahead with the finish of the cut and backup.
The commercial market needs machines with good dealership and backup which is why makes like Etesia, JD, and others hold the market.
The trade forum I use to belong to had a Klippo following to a degree but was simply out done in the mulching by the Etesia range. It’s a stiff market to win into.

@Liz the pot here, as the amateur market, Klippos are by most people regarded as the best. Even so, I do agree with your comments.

Having said that, my personal opinion is that they are simply too expensive for what they are. I did try a neighbours self propelled one a good few years ago and did not like it. The drive was nowhere near as good as my present mower.

I use huskie / jonsereds machinery often and they are always top notch, never had a huskie mower though, look a nice little mower Sheal hope you enjoy it :).

Etesia are very good mowers but they are very expensive and heavy, the johndeere aren't for behind now.

Etesia prices jumped at huge amount around 8 years ago just as I was getting my 46 model which was an ex demo machine.
I’ve got a small JD R43RVE which is ok but the handle design makes the mower very heavy to handle. Most of the walk behinds JD sell are manufactured by Sabo who are a sister company to JD.
It’s also got a cloth bag and they truly are awful to keep clean like all cloth bags. The roller version I have has a small impeller to aid collection which is handy.
I had a chance to try all my mowers out one day to see how far they got before clogging on a wet and fairly long lawn. Along with the JD and Etesia I’ve also got the Hayter 48 Pro.
The first mower to clog which was fairly quick was the Hayter, then the JD and the Etesia went on to fill the bag.
The JD uses a fairly typical Briggs engine and pops along, not what I would say the best and no where near as good as the Briggs on the Hayter and the Etesia has the well trusted Honda engine.
The main difference is that you can alter the pulley system on the Etesia if more speed is required if it’s self propelled and the new versions are able to attach the rear roller kit so you can have the great collection and lines if required.
I’m not a great lover of rear rollers, the design cuts the chute size down and so lowers the lift and collection which is a royal pain when it’s damp or wet.
That leads to why Etesia do well, they take an active roll with end users hence the pulley system upgrades and rear roller attachments.
Etesia are owned by Wolf and it was a trade issue that prevented importing under the Wolf name so a company was set up in France, named Etesia and hey presto they were able to import.
While the Etesia range is expensive they really work hard, mines a 2006 and it’s hammered every year. The JD is a back up and the Hayter has been in 3 times for drive replacements in the last 5 out of its 8 year service life with me and it does very little work to be honest. It’s also had other small issues resulting in down time. I will not be replacing it with another Hayter when it reaches its end of life.
So as a business the Hayter while cheaper to purchase has cost more in the long run than my other 2 mowers.
