    Just think back please Dim, was there more space available to park vehicles then?
    60 posts and still full of desperate feeling on this "neighbour" topic. I am so sorry for all of you and grateful that we no longer have these issues.
    Too many people,too many people.... not enough space,not enough space:wallbanging:

    A quote from Newcastle City Council for there employees - which explains the consideration of the workers I mentioned earlier. (not much good for workaholic Dim though)

    Noise Control
    Your attention is drawn to the Control of Pollution Act 1974 which allows the Council to set the times during which work may be carried out and the methods of work to be used.
    These requirements can extend to the following work:
    a) The erection, construction, alteration, repair or maintenance of buildings, structures or roads;
    b) Breaking up, opening or boring under any road or adjacent land in connection with the construction, inspection, maintenance or removal of works;
    c) Demolition or dredging works;
    d) Any work of engineering construction (whether of not already comprised in paragraphs a, b, or c above)
    The Council will not hesitate to take action against any person contravening the requirements of a notice served upon them or, where a serious nuisance occurs, to take proceedings in the High Court for an injunction.
    The Requirements
    Hours of working - the permitted hours are:
    · Monday to Friday: 8.00am to 6.00pm
    · Saturday 8.00am to 1.00pm
    · Sundays and Bank Holidays: No Working
    These times apply to work, which is audible at the site boundary.
    In exceptional circumstances (for example, in the case of Police traffic restrictions or in an emergency) work outside these hours may be unavoidable and in such cases the person responsible should consult with us as far in advance as possible. Such persons are also advised to notify surrounding residents of works of this type. The permitted times of working may be reduced in the case of particularly noisy operations.

    different rules ... your link is from 1974 .... mine is from 2003 and reads as follows:

    quote:

    The Anti-social Behaviour Act 2003 amended the Noise Act 1996
    and enables local authorities in England and Wales to tackle night
    time noise emitted from dwellings and gardens between the hours
    of 11.00 pm and 7.00 am.

    Sorry Dim. The quote is from the 2012 website, giving working rules to Council Employees.
    The quoted regulation is still valid.
    It's for workers, not an ASBO for lawbreakers!

    i stand corrected. :blue thumb: but i will continue to park half on/off as if anyone in our road didn't, ambulances, police, fire crews, bin wagons or any delivery drivers wouldn't be able to get down. the highway code might have the rules, but in certain circumstances they are not always viable.

      I don't know about police and ambulance, but I wouldn't worry too much about fire engines. I used to work with an ex-fireman, and I once asked him what they do if they can't get to the fire because of cars blocking the road. He said, we radio back to the station for permission to shunt them out of the way. Permission comes back, and we use the appliance to push them out the way. He pointed out that a fully prep'ed fire engine can total over 50 tonnes. Half a tonne of car isn't going to offer any resistance.

        I often work in London, you can get a parking ticket for having a wheel not on the road i.e. on the path, BUT in some places you are supposed to park with one side on the path but only where it is marked that you should do so.

        (Ok, so its a sign from Stockport, but they have similar signs in London)
