Hubby made this to prevent the Starlings stealing all the food. It works a treat

I wonder if something similar but smaller and with more robust, narrower wire could be used to deter larger birds getting at the nest boxes of Bluetits and the like. The box could be placed inside and then the whole thing hung in a tree or wherever.

Yes, but at Buck House that don't have idiots like me cutting through wires with the hedge cutters or digging through the cables!

I've wandered through the grounds at Buck House and all the cables are well hidden. :dbgrtmb:

The Bluetits were checking out the box in the Willow yesterday. They have done this since the box was put up 3 years ago and then they abandon it. They even build nests before going elsewhere.

I would like to put up several boxes together for the Sparrows but it's finding the place to put them . Need to get the Bat boxes put up too. We thought the back of the shed might be a good place as there is an approach corridor of trees and its quiet. I need to refelt the roof first as shed is starting to leak.

@martin-f how do you get access to clean them, hinged lid, unscrew front or what? I like the look of them.:blue thumb:

@martin-f I have two boxes on either side of a telegraph pole. It's been used by Sparrows and Bluetits, but not last year. I would like more but finding space is the issue. Lots of trees here but not all are suitable for boxes.

Today i altered a old box into what i call a robin box, maybe you haven't got this type, it can go up high are down low, ive put mine down low as i want to attract a wren or a robin up high it can attract all kind of birds.

Anyhow this is what ive done today.
