Oh! Welcome back Trunky! I wondered how you and Mrs T were getting on and glad to hear the move went well went for you. Thank you for the good luck wishes. :)

I could do with some help unpacking boxes at the other end if you've got a spare couple of hours. :snorky:

Thank you Silu. :) Luckily the forecast has changed so early rain should be gone by 9/10am and a mixture of cloud and sun from then on. :fingers crossed:

Good luck with everything :blue thumb: Sorry I can't help with the unpacking (you really wouldn't want me helping :hate-shocked: as my standard question with anything tends to be "What do you want that for?") :heehee:

With my cynical hat on:- I always mention when people are moving that it's traditional for exchange to be late on Friday afternoon so that the vendors solicitors receive the purchaser's money just at bank closing time. This means that the money sits in the solicitor's account until bank opening on Monday.:th scifD36: I know things have changed nowadays but the old traditions still seem to carry on.

I'm sure you'll soon have everything shipshape. :grphg:

Okay everyone, your peace and quiet is over, I'm back!

Thank you all for your kind words, they're much appreciated.

Not a problem @shiney, there's only six boxes left, four of those are books. :)

Well you were right about the 'exchange' being late on a Friday afternoon but not because of the cash, that was transferred on Wednesday. Not only is Scottish conveyancing very different to the English way but we had last minute hitches which is typical of the Sheal family luck. :doh:I'll start another post......

.....The bungalow was being sold by executors, one of which lives in southern England. We were told on Thursday that the executors solicitor had failed to contact this person to sign the contract. By pure luck that executor was flying to Scotland on Friday afternoon for a family reunion. The plane was delayed and the contract wasn't signed until just before close of business.

Meanwhile, there was a problem with two missing pieces of paperwork, one as proof of the land being released from crofting before the bungalow was built. The other being the plans for the build of the bungalow. The executor living here found the plans for the bungalow just hours before the signing of the contract and our solicitor made a phone call to the Crofting Commission to get confirmation of the land release with paperwork to follow. :phew:

Meanwhile our worldly goods were sitting on a removal van, in a lay-by, halfway to the bungalow waiting for us to produce the keys. The removal chap waited patiently for an hour and a half for us to turn up and lead him there, as he didn't know the area we were moving too and it's not easy to find.

Completion did happen and the keys were released at 4.55pm. Perfect timing or coincidence, Pete and I don't really care. We're in and happy and that's all that matters! :hapydancsmil:

Thank you @Fat Controller and @Trunky! It's good to be back! :)

A man that does was on our doorstep at the crack of dawn this morning to connect our phone line. Now, knowing that we didn't have a phone line why did the phone company send us an email to let us know he was coming instead of ringing one of our mobiles? Are they stupid or what!

We're doing okay thanks FC, but tired obviously.

The unpacking is almost done Trunky, just six boxes to go. :yes:We've also taken delivery of a new washing machine and some furniture. We're buying new furniture as most of ours was past it's best. Another month before our three piece suite arrives so this is the current situation times two...... :snorky:

I'm taking time out for shopping tomorrow. Having been without a garden for a year I'm off to buy a lawnmower, it doesn't get better than that!

@Sheal - I am chuffed to bits for you, I really am, and despite the wait for new furniture I know for sure that you will have it feeling like 'home' before you know it.
