Here are the babies (look carefully by the floating courgette slice, there are two!):

    20180925_161135.jpg

The above was last week, so they are a bit bigger now and the other fish are not bothering them in the least.

Here is the tank as it stands this afternoon:

    20181003_163518.jpg
Plants are growing (mostly), fish seem to be really settled and happy -- one of the male guppies keeps coming to the end of the tank next to my chair and then he swims up and dives down again and again; the male gourami still sneaks up on me round the back of the plants, and almost all of the neons, danios and guppies will come to us now (humans = food and treats!), even having a nibble when fingers are in the tank.

Our plecs are full of character, particularly when it comes to their wafers - Bungle lies across them, and covers it, as he claims it as his - - he even gives other fish a bit of a nudge to send them packing when they try and pinch a nibble at 'his' wafer

Looks great even though I am not keen on coloured gravel.

I stopped keeping Dwarf Gouramis as the male always chased the female into a corner and stopped her coming out to feed and eventually waste away, have you noticed this at all @Fat Controller?

No - if anything, she follows him around the tank. He is the more adventurous of the two, and loves to either sneak up on me and just hang there completely still waiting for me to look at him, or he swims into the bubble stream, flies up in the bubbles and then swims back round for another shot. We have some loopy fish, but to be fair they fit with the rest of the household.

We've abandoned the idea of a Red Parrot Cichlid, but do want to get something a wee bit larger in there at some point after I am back to work. Any suggestions for something decent sized for a community tank are appreciated. Mrs C isn't keen on Silver Dollars.

I love Anglefish, but was warned off them because they would attack the neons; having said that, when i was a kid, we had a tank with two or three of them in as well as neons and guppies, and we never had a problem

I did wonder if it was a case of introducing the Angel as a baby once everything else was already settled in the tank, and then it would be less likely to dominate/bully?

This weekend is going to be interesting - I am quietly nervous if truth be told - the people that gave us the tank are popping in for a visit on Saturday :yikes:

We had neons, cardinals and an angel and they were fine. We introduced the angel though when it was very small. The only time it became a bit territorial was after it had laid eggs on the filter box because other fish were trying to eat them.

When I had a tank, I had a couple of Angel fish. They enjoyed the baby Guppies  That said, they were pretty much fully grown.

I might get an angel or two then - its not as though they are expensive to be fair, and the guppy babies are now big enough that they are venturing out with the others; these babies were not intentional/expected, and we are not intending breeding them, so if guppy fry does appear again then it takes its chances - we have guppy grass to offer a hiding place, and I am not about to go spending money on breeding tanks and more filters etc

Breeding traps are only around £5 and fold away in a box. It's also good to have one if you want to put a poorly fish in quarantine

Well, after being out and about today, we came home to find five more tiny wee tiddlers! So we now have five really tiny ones, five slightly bigger ones and a couple of slightly bigger again ones - in addition to the adults!

I think we need to get a couple of females at some point though as we have more males than females, and two of them in particular are getting chased a bit too much by randy boys.
