I've been using Firefox & set it as my default browser, the same as on my other machines over the years! I've been going through as many settings as possible to turn off anything to do with MS as I hate that it is almost impossible to have the least privacy! I can't even upload photos from my mobile phone unless it is connected to MS! It wants access to my all my contacts, to the Messenger on the phone & other settings or it won't work properly & as I've denied them I can't get my photos off my phone & on to the computer!

Though I did discover that I could transfer photos to a DVD disk & get them onto the PC that way! But now for some inexplicable reason by laptop won't recognise my phone any longer! I've used it on the laptop for years without the slightest hitch - but no longer! I wonder if Windows has installed a file onto my phone that makes it impossible to connect with any other device! (Perhaps I'm a bit paranoid!)

I think there lies the problems I'm facing.
Had I known what I know now nearly 20 yrs ago I would have approached thing differently but I knew nothing back then and as long as I got it working for me I didn't really bother too much.
So lots of this old stuff is still in the system, unused e mail accounts and old passwords clogging things up.

Would be good if you could just wipe out 20 yrs and start again.

Not sure why, but the caps lock keeps lighting up on my key board for no reason.

Don't know Pete, it all worked fine for us, no problems with setting up our existing Gmail accounts etc in W11 alongside our W10 desktop.

Had used Ytube with W11 but never signed in, but just done that and it worked fine.

Again, unlike @Balc no problem loading in Photos, Mp4 etc from our Moby, be it conencted to the .net or not.

Hope someone can give you better assistance ...

@pete I've spoken about your problem on post #219 to my son. He may be able to help you, so would you mind me copying and pasting your post to him to read?

I use Roboform as my password manager. I have to log into it every time I switch on (if I need to use it) and I have it set to stay on until I shut down (you can set it to remain on for however long or short a time as you require). I have a long memorable password (it could be a line from your favourite song/poem/swearing).
It will generate a huge password for you if you wish or you can use one of your own (I have half a dozen personal passwords I use for sites like this).
When I create an account anywhere it offers to generate a password or if I select one of my own it offers to save the log on which I accept. The next time I try to log on to that site it comes up with the Roboform icon beside the sign-in box and either log in to Roboform and select the offered site or if I am already logged in just select the site. There is no setting up to do.

@Jocko - you might be able to enlighten us there , clearly you can use your PWM to access sites like GC and Tesco, but can you use it with more secure sites like a Bank which as well as normal log in details usually need some extra 2FA input like a text message code etc ?

You can if you like Sheal but I think I might have sorted it out now, it involved me having to relog in on my phone as that was using a different e mail adress and password to my computer to the same account.

                  Thanks for asking.

I'm going stupid I think, dont answer that.
But when I went to shut down last night I couldn't find the shutdown button on the screen.

Ended up using the button on the keyboard which I've never used to shutdown before.
Anyone know where its hidden in W11.

I've found it, they have hidden it behind the windows symbol at the bottom, I knew it was there somewhere but its tiny and I get the feeling they dont want you to find it.
You just push the same button as the one you use to turn it on, but I was under the impression its not recommended.

Pushing the power button to shut down is a "hard" shut down and does not properly close any programs you may have open.

That said, I have had to resort to it a few times when things "froze".

I don't use it for that type of password, where it asks for individual letters/numbers from an agreed passcode. I don't know if it can. I have never tried it.

With Windows 10 there is a software shutdown at the bottom of the Start menu. Does Windows 11 not have the same? It allows you the option to Shutdown or Restart. If you have updates to do it offers further menu items to deal with them.
