Blimey I bet that puts most people off, especially anyone that can type properly, unlike me.

I think you will find they put them in the corners, not moved them about. Mind you, that would probably help my typing.

Seems similar spec Asus and Acers are beyond their price bracket and there is only one HP that fits the bill.

Suggested they call in at a couple of curry branches on Sunday to see if they those models are on display and check out the keyboards and screens etc before they buy.

I thought you were intimating that both the HP and Lenovo were the same spec, if so I'd go for HP every time.

Always best to try with a laptop in case you struggle with the keyboard and touchpad.

Wouldn't worry about key layout as your hands quickly adapt but do check quality of the keyboard itself as a bendy squashy one is awful

They are all almost identical specs but the Lenovo have the edge in that they have more powerful Ryzen 5 processors, so on paper the better machine, but that does not always reflect real life use.

As we are self build desktop users just no experience of these brands even though they are the two biggest laptop producers.

Personally, I never go near the Touchpad. I have a wired mouse connected all the time with mine. I have a touch screen too but have never used that either. I thought it was a good idea when I bought it but I could have done without and saved a fair bit money.

Can thoroughly recommend the Logitech M185 wireless mouse, saves all that messing with the cable, though still use a wired keyboard for security as the wireless ones transmit for a very long distance, even beyond our garden !
Also just bought Asdas own wireless mouse , just as good.

I play games on my laptop and I found the wireless mouse had enough of a lag to spoil my enjoyment. Excellent for everything else. My laptop is basically a desktop in my setup so a wired mouse is no hindrance.

Picked up something nasty on Facebook yesterday so got a techy bloke round today to sort it out.
Apparently there was a couple of other things on there as well which he has sorted and he said he would clean things up.
It does seem a bit faster now.

While he was here I asked him if he could install windows 10 for me as I'm still on w8 atm.

He said he could but he didn't like putting that on my laptop without doing a complete overhaul of the whole thing.
I think he said he wanted to replace the hard drive as well and then put all my stuff back on then that way I would get an almost new computer but would still have all my old stuff just a different appearance to w8.

Any thoughts, he said wait until some time in the new year, there is no rush.
                          Cost £350.

I think putting £350 towards a new laptop would be better. A new hard drive would help but the rest of your old machine must be outdated and potentially worn out.

I gave my desktop a couple more years life with a new SSD hard drive and double the memory. I did it myself for about £150. It runs much better but being old it isn't great on energy use. I've started looking at more efficient PCs. In your case a laptop shouldn't use too much electric but worth checking as that may affect your decision.

A new one would mean windows 11 I'm guessing.
Not many people seem to like that, but then I remember not many people liked windows 10 when it first came out.
