Don't mean to be a spoilsport but I kind of miss the old layout. It was old-fashioned and a bit strange - just what you want from your local pub, to pick up on what Kristen said. Now it feels as though the snug bar has been ripped out and replaced by a rather characterless space with stripped floors, hospital theatre lighting and nowhere to sit. Bet the drinks are overpriced too. Still, I'm sure I'll get used to it.

Sorry I don't like it either but then I HATE change of anything that is pleasingly familiar, feels like I have come home and someone has changed all the furniture!!! Where are the smilies? Where's my cute little hedgehog??

My gripe (whilst we are airing them, but I don't want to make too much of it because, as others have said, "change" always takes a bit of getting used to) is the amount of "stuff" around each post.

I want to be able to easily read a thread without too much getting in the way of that. If I want to PM someone, or FIND their other posts I'd be very happy to click on their UserName and then pick that option from their Profile Page. For me having those sorts of things on EVERY post in EVERY thread gets in the way of my ease of reading. No doubt has something to do with my dyslexia and I expect other people can tune-those-things-out more easily.

If you folks want to try a different colour scheme you can choose one on your options. I choose Spring, instead of Winter, for a bit hoping it would cheer me up, and I've now got one with some random non GC banner at the top - I will no doubt get "done" by the thought police for that.

One suggestion: Put some material in the Blog. Having it empty makes it look like its disused (rather than "in waiting"). If it is not going to be used then hide it - otherwise casual visitors may think the site is not well looked after.

The shock of the new! I'm sure we'll all get used to it. I may be missing something but how do I find NEW POSTS?

I like the new look GC - it will take me a long while to get familiar with things but I don't use half the options on here anyway. No doubt I will be making loads of mistakes!

I think it's a good time for a little change, Spring is [almost] around the corner and it's a good time to look forward to new things.
I think the main thing for me anyway is how the forum is run and so thanks for all the hard work folks.

All this stack overflow stuff is bringing back unpleasant memories of drainage problems.[hr]
PS What is a stack overflow? In the virtual sense?

Chaps, there will be a few teething problems with a new look forum. I've been here a couple of years now, have seen several changes...and people upset by them! You'll soon get used to it.

If your profile looks strange, it's very easily changed or amended. As others have suggested, use the My Account drop down tab on the top left hand corner of the webpage and have an explore, a fiddle around and a play.
