New Nikon

Hi, I'm on the lookout for a distance lens, knowing what you know now would this still be your choice of lens please,

I see some cracking shots with this lens but you will now know its plus and minus any recommendations would be appreciated .

I had the Nikon D5300 with the 18-55 and 55-200 (I think!) and loved it, but sadly I had to sell it due to money being tight and needing to buy new tyres for the car more!

I really, really missed having a camera, so when I got a tiny bit of spare money a few weeks ago, I knew I had to buy another one, but couldn't afford the D5300 again, so had to look for an older camera with lens, which I could afford! So I eventually found a D3100 I could afford with an 18-55 lens for £130, so got that! I know it's a bit of a step back and I can't afford to get a zoom for the forseeable future, so will have to make do. But I'm just so happy to have a camera again, especially with all the lovely spring flowers to photograph! I really love shallow depth of field photos, but the 18-55's maximum aperture is only 5.6, unless you're lucky and can push the lens to F3.

I have the Nikon D3400 and I am quite happy with the images. I just received a Sigma 150 to 600 telephoto lens but have not used it yet. It will be a brute to carry around and I call it my Birdzooka. The 70 to 300 works OK for wildlife photos though.

 

The Sigma 150-600 has been my go to lens for nature but on the 10th. I pointed it skyward to try it on the moon. The night was clear and cold with no haze and it did a decent job. For nature, it is top notch.
