Our gardens are a bit odd, the front garden is the main garden so acts as a back garden. The shed/rockery would be on the edge of the street at the front so would give us some more privacy. Weird I know!

Ta! I'm talking about the main 3' foot path through the middle for creeping thyme not the 1' gap between the raised beds on either side of the main path. Would it take over too much?

Then I would be inclined to turn the shed around so the longest side took up most of the view (then add a trellis and grow something up it to "disguise" it from your point of view).

Ooh, now that is an idea. Thanks M! I've got some variegated privet there already but a trellis might be nice. Some evergreen would be good, Ivy is a swear word in this house though! :)

Privet is a work horse and needs a good trim 3 times a year to keep it manageable. So, unless you enjoy hedge trimming, it might be on your "reconsider" list ;) I would be inclined towards a honeysuckle/clematis/rose combination for a trellis - but only because I know their habits :heehee: plus, I don't find the raw nature of a trellis/shed side in winter to be a total turn off if I have something to look forward to through the rest of the season. Food for thought ;)

Quick update, keep forgetting to take pictures. I've put up a new fence at the end of the garden (previous one can be seen above) reinforced with treated 3x2. Also painted it. The shed hasn't moved yet, maybe this Sunday if the weathers stays as planned.

I'm hoping it will be fairly soon so I can buy the wood for the veg beds, cut them, put them together, paint them, put them in place and fill with soil.

I've also replanted the privet that was pulled out so hopefully it will fill out a bit quicker. I'm planning on growing some Scottish Flame Flower through the privet/over the shed. (I wish I'd known it takes a year to germinate before buying the seeds but I got them free so I shouldn't complain really!).

I forgot to mention I've cancelled my fruit tree order. The drainage needs a rethink first really...more updates to come on that.

Have you read through Mr Grinch's garden thread? I re-visited it from page 1 earlier today (erm, yesterday now  ) and he had water issues. During the course of the thread he speaks about how he has been dealing with it. I thought of you when I read it and wondered if it might inspire you.

Snap M! Just done the same thing, read Mr Grinchs garden from start to finish and really enjoyed it. There is a wealth of experience here that may well help you tack an easier course when sorting you garden nFrost.
