Someone asked me about my board name on another thread.

As a lover of "film noir" films since my teens I've since collected a couple of dozen, my board name comes from here. 2 minutes in (nothing wrong with your computer, there's no sound during the credits). It's my favourite film. So many classic one-liners

And my signature comes from here. 1 min 26secs in.

I've used this "internet name" for ten years.

    Interesting thread.

I chose my user name just from it being a gardening forum.

    That seems quite sensible.

I also contribute to two private boards, Digital Spy, a board dedicated to saxophone players and three jukebox owners boards, so I keep the same name for them all, it's means fewer things to remember.

I don't "save" on my computer anything in the way of membership names, numbers or passwords, too much internet fraud now.

My Nick was an embarrasing compromise, I originally joined this forum after a trip to Morrisons and while petting my £1.49 Clematises and emptying my £3.99 wine bottle somehow managed to mistype my email. After days of furious complaining to the forum Big Bosses I STILL HAVEN'T RECEIVED THE CONFIRMATION EMAIL YOU... I noticed the error and decided quietly to register again under a nickname nickname. BTW, Selleri means celeriac in Finnish. I find it quite tasty.
Doghouse Riley - :gnthb: that was great ... I had forgotten those great one liners although I was just a little girl when I saw them... we used to sit and watch an old movie repeats on a sunday if it was raining.

A little known fact is that Martha Vickers, (no one wore shorts better than she) had a lot of her scenes cut.
The scene with Bogart and Bacall in the restaurant was added eighteen months after production and before the film was released. By this time the pair were married and the studio wanted to promote Bacall. It was said the reason for the cuts were that Vickers "acted the pants off Bacall."
I like the scene with "General Sternwood" and his reflections on his life and family.

Now, I would have thought it meant celery.:gnthb:
Ha, that just shows you how carefully you should be treading the Noble Finnish Language, a root of several known civilised languages as e.g western Votjak dialects. Which other language could summarise the "plan for the wedding night" in just one, beautiful word, "hääyöaie"?

Sorry the OT, I'll get my päällystakki. [IMG]

Hi Doghouse, it was me asking about your name :)

Just because in my family if you are "in the doghouse" it means you are in trouble :hehe:

I think my dad lives in there :lollol:

My nickname is a reference to two things, the 'Arch referring to Marilyn Manson's 'Arch Dandy' persona from his fifth album, when I first started getting into his music, and 'doodler', as I'm an illustrator.

Yes I understand that Jazmine, it's actually why I use that particular avatar, you can just see "my paws and eyes." I've got one somewhere with a "name plate" over the entrance which I use elsewhere. I might change it.

    Edit
    There you go...

    Oh keep it Riley :)

It's interesting to hear why members chose a particular name.
