    It does sound like a tawny but then little owls can also make that sound. How lovely though to have them nearby.

      It’s great that we have had a number of owls in both the last two places we have lived. Mainly Scops in the last place and mostly Tawny and Barn owls here. Sound like a Tawny to me as well. Xeno here is a good site to hear their different calls.

      I have them here, it's a female Tawny Owl and yes, they squawk loudly. :biggrin:
