The school bus driver stopped for a while so all the kids could see this big guy. He was relocated back to the Adirondack mountains.

The cold really plays havoc with the batteries. The camera takes 8 AA batteries, which are supposed to last a year, but due to the cold temperatures they last less than a week. I did place it outdoors last night and it caught deer passing through at three different times. I don't know if it is the same group of deer, or three different groups. That said, they all seem to follow the same path. There are muddy deer prints on the driveway in front of our house also, so there are apparently a lot of deer roaming around at night.

It was fairly mild last night so I put the camera out. Apparently the oppossum and one of the feral cats tolerate each other with no conflict. In one photo they are literally face to face. Also, a skunk dropped by twice, but I did not get a good picture of it either time. Two small groups of deer and three more feral cats were photographed.

I don't think if I had a camera set up in my garden it would be half as interesting. All I'd see is the large cat population that live around here!

Just to see what would happen I placed a left over piece of pizza in the yard last night. The cats ignored it, however, a little stinker stopped by for an early breakfast and it was not as fussy as the cats.

Now that it is warmed up some I have been able to get the trail cam set up again to capture some local critters. First a racoon dropped by, then a coyote, then several deer. The camera has infrared lighting, but it is very apparent that the animals can see/sense it, as the coyote made several passes before it really came close to the camera. racoon.jpg coyote 1.jpg coyote 2.jpg bambi.jpg
