No Dig or Double Dig

    I've seen out of town allotment sites with a large mound of manure dumped at one end, I'm guessing if you are in that kind of situation it might be possible, especially if you get the manure for free, but I doubt no dig is viable on the average town garden veg plot.

    Our allotment gets woodchip dropped off for free and there is a manure guy (that you have to pay for) but it's the space that is best for soil amendments. We have a large comfrey patch, lots of input material from our veg plants and cover crops.
    I do think it's easiest in a garden setting though. The beds don't have to be big and even in our normal sized semi detached we can comfortably make enough compost if we wanted to grow veg there. It would also be far easier because there isn't the weed pressure that have open borders to other people's plots causes.

      Having been following the thread elsewhere regarding green wheely bins, and folks perceived need for them, there surely must be enough 'waste' to provide for the few folk who are willing and able to compost and choose to grow veg at all.
