We have a lot of power cuts and it comes in very handy. The hobs can be lit by matches, as can the ordinary oven. The fan assisted oven won't work without electricity.

During power cuts I cook on the hob and have the gas oven on to heat up the kitchen. So we can sit in there and eat in the warm.

The colour is British Racing Green. They don't do that colour any more and have replaced it with bright red. They still do it in a cream colour.

Does that make it cook faster then? :heehee:

I was looking at this one last night thinking who the hell would want to have that in their kitchen. I don't get why range cookers suddenly have to be in all the colours of the rainbow

Gas is a no brainer for me. Far better to use and more controllable.
For something like a custard I use a small diameter pan on the large flame - it heats the side more than the bottom if that makes sense.
Just tell Mr.Jane to do the gas pipe himself - it will only take a couple of hours I'm sure. Gas work is super easy. Then just get it certificated by someone reliable for insurance needs.
