No Red Tomatoes

    I saw them in Morrisons on Saturday - we decided to stick to the standard yellow banana's mainly due to the price!

    pfft, green tomatoes. Mine have just got flowers on, which I was excited about after growing lots of weeds! :D

    If that works, maybe a couple of ripe bananas would do even better. They give off rather a lot of ethylene.

    Sorry, I should have read a bit further, cos it's already been voiced.

    Some varieties are ripening o.k. I have "Gardeners Delight" growing in gro-bags in the greenhouse, and we have been eating, and giving them away for several weeks now. Also "Tumbling Tom" have been ripening during the same period, in a long wall basket in the garden.

    I am also in Hants.

    Old wives' tale says put unripe toms in a brown paper bag to ripen!! However, brown paper bags are not easy to come by these days. Try Homebase or Tesco (mushroom bags)?

    Looking at a Tesco mushroom bag now. Should do the trick.
