Phew... Lots of work done today.

Finished the gate and attached it to the fence.

Cleared out a load of brambles so we could move the coop to its proper place too. That was a right pain...

Nothing to report from me other than acquiring an old hutch from freecycle which is going to be repurposed as an extra bedroom for our hens when they arrive on Saturday :)
Someone else has tried to claim it in the meantime though..

Hi Sarah, I really like the hen set up you've made in the garden it looks great. Not long now to wait for your girls :hapfeet:
The old hutch will be great as emergency housing if you have a poorly hen but you will need to cover the mesh on the door & put in some ventilation holes in the side somewhere. Hens don't like draughts when they are sleeping but it's important for them to have some ventilation (sorry if I'm stating the obvious!!) you did well to get that on free cycle, I do like a bargain or a freebie!
When I got my ex batts Freda was scared of the soil on the garden! The grass was a shock for her at first, once she got used to that she was exploring then stopped stood dead still looking at the soil moving one leg up & down, poor dear was too scared to walk on it! That didn't last long she soon learnt to have a dust bathe in the flower beds!!! :heehee:
Marion one of my posh hens ran between my legs this morning into the kitchen, spilt the cat milk all over the floor & tried to eat the cat food! Whilst I was catching her & clearing up the other three were knocking on the cat flap! It was like a scene from a carry on film!!! :loll:Can't wait to see your girls Sarah :hapfeet:
