    My Dianthus barbatus (Sweet William) is a riot of fiery colour at the moment and lasts for months

    For next year late spring/early summer you might consider Oriental Poppies that flower a bright red with blooms upto 6 inches accross. Stunning plants....we have one and love it and ours started flowering when our Tulips where.

    Thanks all.

    I did a stock take of what I have in there now. Here's some of them (I've lost the labels on some):
    * Trollius - Chinensis Golden Queen
    * Physostegia - Virginia Crown of Snow
    * Gaillardia - Kobold Goblin
    * Helenium - Moorheim Beauty
    * Lobilia - Upright bright red thing, can't remember which one
    * Oriental Poppy
    * Canadian Goldenrod
    * Salvia - didn't say which one on the label, just a bright red one
    * Geranium - some sort of shocking pink/cerise one
    * Crocosmia (not Lucifer though)
    * About two Marigolds (slugs must have had the rest)
    * Big daisies that I though were oxeye but now I'm not so sure
    * Common Sage - ok not exactly the right colour for the scheme but when it flowers it is quite showy.
    * Nasturtium - Probably Tom Thumb as I planted some years ago, but as I never planted this one I can't be certain.

    There are a couple of others but I can't remember what they are. There are also some ornamental poppies that just appear in my garden. Those ones are likely to get sprayed with round-up because they don't fit in my scheme, and they just won't go away. Or in case anyone is interested (they are a nice flower but not for the look I'm going for) I will let some go to seed and send the seeds in for the seed swap project I read about in another thread.

    I'd say August maybe even September. Looking at pics taken of my garden last year, they weren't blooming in the August pics, but they are in the September ones. The slugs like them too though :(
