Like I do, right about now

I'm not exactly a big bruiser of a bloke or anything, but I don't really suit strong girly perfume smells. Still, t'is a price worth paying

ALWAYS have some 'after sun' ready, especially if you spend hours in unexpectedly hot sun as it will probably either retrospectively completely prevent sunburn, or reduce the effects of it. It really does work.

Ok, bit late now (sorry - I was doing other things yesterday evening and didn't see this)

Anyhow: if you have skin burning sunburn and you don't have any camomile lotion to hand then the very best "home remedy" is ...

... cold tea! Dap the affected area with cold tea bags (steep the bags first in hot water, then chill them and the liquid in the fridge and apply). You can drink the hot tea (which will cool you down!) and cool just the bags/leaves and then apply the bags/leaves to the skin.

Please do *not* use butter!!! While well intentioned advice ( and very old fashioned) it is really not a great idea at all! You don't want to baste yourself and end up like pork crackling! :nonofinger:

The only draw back to using tea could be that you "stain" your skin with a bit of - natural - colouring ... but that simply means your lobster impression turns into a sun kissed Adonis tint ;)

Hope you are feeling a bit better today :grphg:

Blimey - tea must be extra-super if it can have the word Adonis in a sentence relating to me!

I'm feeling a lot better since the spray has been applied - there is still the odd bit stinging, but nothing like the wholesale pain that I had earlier.

While we are on about sunburn - we are treating increasing numbers of folk for ear and nose sun damage.
So even in moderate weather you need to think slapping a dollop of sun cream on your prominent bits !!

Ah, well, such is the vagaries of life in public transport. It would amaze you the things that arrive in lost property - and the things that are in handbags that would identify their owners as being considerably more 'free-willed' than the majority of society (I'm talking undergarments and battery powered 'devices' amongst other things!)

I know I am coming in very late here but another emergency sunburn remedy is Menthol shaving foam.. Spray on and smooth a good thick layer all over sunburn and let it cool it down.. Yes I have tried it and was amazed when it took the heat out of the sunburn..!! :yahoo:

Well, I can highly recommend this stuff if you are ever in a position like mine. It whiffs a bit, but works very well, and apart from the very worst bits on my shoulders and my wee chubby bits above my hips, my skin is now pretty much pain free.
