I used to have a Hayter Ambassador 20" cylinder mower with ten blades. It was brilliant and would turn on a sixpence. I got rid of it because it could only cut my good lawns and the old rotary mower I used for the rest packed up on me. So I got a Hayter 56. That did all the lawns very well (not as good as the Ambassador) and I couldn't afford to run both.

If you can get an old Ambassador and are able to maintain it then I would recommend it. They used to be used for bowling greens and cricket pitches. It needed fairly regular adjustment of the blades but that was quite easy once you got the knack.

150.00 – Hayter Ambassador Mower | LAWNMOWER DEALS

These had the Briggs and Stratton as well.

there is one for £650 .... with a bit of negotiationg, you could possibly get it for £500

DENNIS PREMIER 36C GREENS MOWER, KOHLER PETROL 3FT WIDE CUT | eBay

£200 will cover a good full service, which will include touching up the paintwork etc

so, will cost approx £700 .... bargain .... as if you buy something new, that is similar ... expect to pay well over £2,5k or more

I have a few large properties that I maintain, and would love something like this that will give decent stripes

£295 (or best offer) gets you this Webb 24 inch in working order:
      http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Webb-24-c...arden_GardenPowerTools_CA&hash=item336f77cd45

and here is an 18 inch webb for £22 ....
      http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Webb-18in...arden_GardenPowerTools_CA&hash=item56477a0079

so there are bargains, but you have to search .... I have seen large cylinder mowers sell for very cheap at auction houses
