My father inlaw says ' I see said the blind man, you do said the dummy' not sure what it means, but it makes me smile.

My gaffer at work is always getting saying wrong some examples ' let's dot the T's and cross the eyes'.

He also gets 2 saying mixed into 1. So ' does a bear s@@@ in the woods' and ' Is the Pope catholic' he uses ' Does the pope s@@@ in the woods'. It gives us hours of amusement at work.

We had that one up north too Sheal. It was the standard response to someone pulling a silly face at you, or someone sulking, or someone doing anything at all it sometimes seemed.

It was on a par with the infinitely insightful gem: "If you stand on a crack, you'll break your back".

My father terrified me as a young child with: "I'll have your guts for garters!" :hate-shocked:

When you're in a hole, stop digging.

A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

The hound that chases two rabbits will catch neither.

              If you snooze, you lose.

Do not walk in front of me, for I will not follow.
Do not walk behind me, for I will not lead.
Do not walk beside me, for the path is narrow.
In fact, just get lost and leave me alone.

When I as younger and not well my Grandfather used to say
'You look like death warmed up' - I don't think he realised how much that scared me.

Reminds me of one of mine from when I was a 'young man about town'.

If its offered to you on a plate, its bad manners to refuse it.

There were two Newgate Prisons in London Zigs. The first built in the 13th century, the second in the 18th. Apparently the second prison had a large black knocker on the door. :)

Your eyes are bigger than your belly - being greedy about food.

I'm as old as my tongue and a bit older than my teeth - what my auntie said when I asked her how old she was.

Have you got a Charlie horse...........a reference to a stiff neck.
That's the coughing (coffin) they carry you off in..............a hacking cough.
