Olympic Tickets - did you get any?

Only 2 million people applied for tickets, in the first round there were 5.5 million tickets available. Only 700,000 people actually got tickets, on average they would get 7 or 8 tickets each!

The vast majority of us (1.3 million) got nothing because we only applied for one or two tickets. Now that really is unfair and favours the rich who could afford to make multiple applications.

I'm pretty certain the tickets could have been allocated on a much fairer basis, but then all the rich folk would have complained because they were only allowed to buy the same amount as us poorer folk, so maybe you're right
