I should explain - I am a manager at a London bus garage, and it just so happens that the area we operate in includes Kingston, Richmond, Hampton Court etc, so our services were essentially carved to bits on Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday & Wednesday by the cycle events. In short, I had to manually modify the schedules, driver duty information and various other associated stuff for 8 large routes for the three different days. On the face of it, it sounds as though this should be fairly simple, however as this stuff is normally done by specific software and a team of people, one man doing it manually amounted to quite a challenge.

All in all, it took me the most part of three solid months, with no days off, to get it done and ready in time.

The event days themselves consisted of long days on duty (12-14 hours) overseeing that everything worked as it should, so you will understand that reaching last night and everything going without a hitch felt like a massive milestone.

And my #23 is also for you FC, Boris Johnson and all the "backroom networking" teams that are making this event so spectacular. I also would like to initiate 3 hip hip hoorays for the excellent coverage of the Olympics by the BBC and their magic red button and their commentators . Their knowledge is making it so enjoyable for us "armchair enthusiasts" and to watch from dawn to dusk without a single advert.
        Priceless,
        Jenny
        smiling again today

Thanks :) - I must admit to being a bit frazzled now its all over. I've taken the day off tomorrow as I've got someone coming to repair the central heating, so fully intend to spend the day pottering about in the garden while he is draining pipes and stuff; looking forward to it :). Got to work Saturday, but then will almost certainly make Sunday an alcoholic day by way of a reward

Michael Phelps another medal, 20 Olympic medals in total. Unbelievable. And Olympic champion at 200m medley for 3 Olympics running. Amazing athlete. Also Christ Hoy and the rest of the team what a performance.

Jessica Ennis is a gem. I saw her do the 200m sprint just a few minutes ago. Just when you think she's flat out, its like a turbo kicks in and she just turns into a human missile.

Sitting in the pub yesterday evening drinking a few pints of Black Cat bitter whilst watching amongst other events, the womans 10,000m final.
What a race and what a finish by Tirunesh Dibaba. Superb.
