@Verdun I reckon that was a bit of sea mist.! :heehee:

Seriously though this weather is getting a bit wearing now, but I don't want to complain but watching plants struggling to stay alive..

Grandson was out harvesting all weekend, which is early and the grain yield is small.. Some food is going to get expensive later in the year and winter because of the weather I think.. :hate-shocked:

Heat is back now but we Cornish love it and the rain :)
Marley makes a serious point though....foodstuff will be both scarce and expensive this autumn and winter:sad: farmers down here are struggling.

Yes Verdun and the longer this weather goes on the worse it will get too....

I never talk about Brexit but I dread to think what the price of food will be with the farming shortage and Brexit next year..:help::thud:

Yet the farmers usually cry out for this weather in August for the harvest :noidea:
Back in March we wondered if we would ever get any dry warm weather!!

Prices will rise a bit, then imports of grain will start to come in, if prices else where are cheaper and good harvest, normally you will see grain coming from Canada, Usa, Russin/Ukraine (not sure about this bit now ??,France, Gemary, even Austraila (biggest exporter to UK), most flour mills are on the water side so imports are easy, high portein wheat comes into Tibury all the time

Well, have you ever met a farmer that doesn't moan about the weather.:snorky:
I should add, I know the weather probably affects them more than most regarding their work.

But, speaking to the orchard manager where I work.
He said he hates good years, as the prices are so low, so to him a bad harvest is good:scratch:

I sometimes do wonder, if farmers do actually lose out regarding weather, short supply, the price goes up, glut, the price goes down.
On the news today they stated that imports wont fill the gap as most of the countries we import grain from are struggling also.
Funny that they only mentioned the EU and Russia?

I think they forget that there is a world out there.

Believe me @pete they will suffer as I am in a farming family and area and around here if you look at the size of the grains of barley and wheat they are having to harvest now they are about 65% Smaller than normal harvest so... Yes Pete I think it will be genuine moans and worries and we cannot count on the EU for any deals as our stupid government can’t sort that out.. So prices are going to rise..

Don't expect much grains to come in from France and Germany as they're having an even tougher time than us at the moment. Some areas of the farming belt in those countries are expecting the weather to be in the upper 30s and may even top 40.

Nor the Nile Delta as EU, Russian, Chinese and American multinationals have owned that land for years and its output is already spoken for!

If the price is right it will be exported, the movement around the world is  at times, As a lorry driver is this country who has haul grain to and from ports it opens your eyes as to what goes on

Helped to load one ship (4000 tons)of barley it sailed to international waters then turned around and sailed back into the same dock and we had then the job of unloading her
