An appropriate thread title for me as this is the only rose in my garden, I think it is Graham Thomas, rather put in the shade by the fine specimens thread though ;)

Good evening @Gay Gardener your Rose is beautiful all Rose's are equal my friend and Graham Thomas is no exception, and who knows it might be the first of many;)

One of the most vigorous of David Austin's modern shrub roses, this was introduced in 1983 and became immediately popular. It possesses all the virtues of the English rose group strong disease-resistance, vigorous growth and handsome old-fashioned blooms

          Shrub. English Rose Collection.
Deep yellow. Strong, tea fragrance. 35 petals. Blooms in flushes throughout the season.
          Height of 5' to 10' (150 to 305 cm). Width of 4ΒΌ' to 8' (130 to 245 cm).

Thanks @wiseowl that is much more than I knew about it before. I discovered this (inherited) rose basically underneath an ice cream tree and it was in a sorry state. I've got it reasonably healthy but it is very crowded by other things. I'm hoping to transplant it, could you advise on the best time? Thanks.

Good evening @Gay Gardener the best time to transplant a Rose is when its in its dormant state in late winter or early spring, but on saying that I have successfully moved many Roses in June/July/August out of necessity ;)

Good afternoon @wiseowl, I've had a good read up and I agree this is a fabulous rose.

Have you purchased roses on line and if so have they been good quality?

I have been searching for a rose nurseries and managed to find one quiet close so I may take a trip there on Friday, list in hand to have a good look :)

Anthony, it is a Salix Integra Hakuro Nishiki, not my favourite tree by any means but I inherited two (one which is now dead but strangely still sprouting stems with entirely different leaf type, but I digress). I always call it an ice cream tree because the colouring always reminds me of an old fashioned Walls neapolitan ice cream and I can never remember the mouthful of its proper name.

Thanks. I will let it bloom properly and then rethink and sort out that part of the border wintertime as the whole section needs a bit of a rethink for next year.

                              Cheers
