But far too banal...... has to be something exotic - and preferably something that won't make me sneeze..... so no tiger-lilies,please....

But Pal in a hairband - that gets my vote too! :D

What do you mean, carnations are banal, dendro?

Yes, I like the Pal in a hairband as well ... but the flower has got to be right.

Pal, what is your favourite flower, my petal?

I would imagine we should have to choose something other than the rose or carnation cos I'm sure I saw some gentlefolk walking round chelsea with flowers in there lapel last year imagine accosting some poor person who wouldn't have a clue what we were talking about maybe badges with GC on them would be the way to go!!

I went to the Harrogate autumn flower show last year and felt very sorry that I did not make more effort to meet PeterS as I knew he lived close to the show ground.

I used to belong to a horsey news group, and we all met up one year for a long weekend, I got totaly confused by real names and the fact that people were just not how my over worked imagination thought they would be.

I mean for example, Pal is my tall dark handsome hero full of the expert knowlege to keep all the plants in my garden healthy. What would it do to me if I found out he was really small, bald with a pink hair band and carried a gardening encyclopedia round with him!

Waco - we will meet one day. I had American visitors that weekend anyway - so it was too difficult. I would love to meet any others, if for no other reason than that I always have loads of plants - which I want to give away. I keep getting seeds and growing new plants, but then don't know what to do with them when they are grown up. My garden is full, my pots are full but I see no reason for not growing more plants.

I think Roders badge is the most sensible. There is noway that you could notice peoples differant avatars. Even so most big shows are so big that you are unlikely to meet unless it is at a pre-arranged time and place.

Think you're right, Peter. Definitely a question of arranging time and place, and knowing who's going where....

I've been to Hampton Court once, and never again.... and am most likely to go to Gardening Scotland at Ingliston, not very far from me

I expect Peter and various others from Yorkshire area will probably go to the Harrogate show, but maybe the incentive of meeting up with some of the GC gang would be enough to make people go down south to the really big ones...... I wouldn't bother myself, largely because it would be difficult to take plants home! :D

I'm with Dendy, its about time we had a GC logo and badge - car and lapel. There are companies that do these inexpensively - and we could pay the cost + postage.

Maybe a competition next month for a suitable logo????
