Ok here we go. Have a look here...but this is for info only, I am not recommending it OK.

Should you wish to experiment, then let me know how you get on. One benefit, is that they do offer previous versions incase anything should go pear shaped.:thumb:

The zone alarm update issued Sat. has done the trick I reloaded the microsoft update yesterday and both systems working ok. Borrowers if you down load Z A latest version update it right away so you have the latest patch.
Shiney you should really update regularly alsorts of loopholes are being exploited in these systems the best way to keep on top of it and secure is to update, yes sometimes there are glitches but they are usually resolved quite quickly.

I'm with Shiney on this one. I never use the microsoft updates automatically..I turned this facility off as it kept beggaring up my puter. Also the security updates to IE are of no use to me as I use FireFox.:thumb:

Microsoft updates are notorious for causing havoc, I turned them off after it caused me major problems twice. I've never used zone alarm, im currently using Mcafee (as im struggling to get rid of it off my new laptop) but will be using Comodo as a firewall when this expires (if i can get mcafee off!). I also use Firefox, IE is just poor!

Well to be honest, I just don't bother anymore. However, in the past I used to go to the microsoft update page...let them scan my puter and then I used to go down the list of updates that I wanted.

Mind you, most of them seemed to be regarding IE which I used at the time.:thumb:

Woo hoo - have you received an alert from ZA to 'patch' this. I got one, installed no prob but I've only just done it so if I disappear from cyber space I've mucked it up:(

Seems to be pretty easy & I have put my security settings back to high. Must have been listening to us all.

    cheers
